Best Friday-After-Thanksgiving Sales in Greensboro, North Carolina- Part 2

Now that we have done away with the preliminary tips for preparing and finding bargains while shopping in Greensboro, North Carolina, I'll share some personal tricks and let you in on my favorite stores to shop on Black Friday.

Wal-mart- In Greensboro, North Carolina, the Wal-mart store located at the West Wendover Avenue location is open twenty-four hours a day. On the Friday after Thanksgiving, most of the electronic deals at Wal-mart are on sale from six o'clock in the morning to about ten o'clock. Usually the stock does not last that long. There are no limits to the number of items one shopper can purchase so the more popular items run out in less than an hour.

To avoid having a giant mob gathering in the electronics department, Wal-mart employees strategically place the electronics in different parts of the store. For example, one year the 27" televisions were placed on a palette in the soda aisle of the grocery section of the store. The mixers, toaster ovens, and other small appliances were set up in the garden center. The desktop computers and DVD/VCR players were the only bargain items actually available in the electronics department. You should have seen people racing from one end of the store to the other to find their treasured buys.

Camp out in the store. Wal-mart is probably the only store that you'll be able to use this trick. Until six o'clock, you will not be able to put any sale merchandise in your cart but you can form a line right in front of the item. Being in the store before the sale will give you a chance to look around and find where everything you want is located. I know people who have done this and it worked very well. People entering the store at five-thirty or six were stymied by the fact that there were shoppers who already had full carts.

Garden Ridge- There is only one Garden Ridge Store in Greensboro. It's located off of Bridford Parkway. Turning left onto Bridford Parkway and then left again at the second stoplight will bring you to the store.

Garden Ridge opens around six-thirty on Black Friday. They advertise their sale items by times as well. Early bird specials are very enticing. They sell "bed-in-a-bag" sets, any size, for thirty dollars. All of their chairs are also on sale. I've purchased farmhouse chairs for twenty-five dollars a piece.

The biggest attraction to Garden Ridge is the Christmas features. The artificial trees are priced the lowest of the season. Some are pre-lit; some are white, Frazier fur, or pine. The wreaths and all ornament accessories fly off the shelves and into carts.

K-mart- The K-mart superstore will open at six o'clock. If you enter the store by the first set of sliding doors, the electronics department will be in front of you and to the left. K-mart has bargain prices on video game cartridges, televisions, and VCR's on Black Friday. Any toys or games on sale will not be specially showcased. You will have to browse the aisles for them along with everyone else. This could get ugly so send out your partner to sidestep the carts and bring back the goods.

Kohl's- Stores like Kohl's will open around seven o'clock. This will give you time to visit the stores that open earlier. Kohl's provides aisle friendly carts that resemble shopping bags. These carts make it easier to navigate the tight aisles. The bargain prices on bedding and appliances are worth traveling to Kohl's. My sister found an excellent deal on sheets and I bought a handsome watch for my husband at a fraction of the cost.

Hamrick's- The prices at Hamrick's are already low, but on Black Friday the deals get better. Their clothing for women and children are good quality and priced right. I have bought handbags and shoes from there that I couldn't get for that price anywhere else.

Toys 'R Us- Toys 'R Us is the premier toy store in Greensboro. It is located on High Point Road off of Interstate 40. Take the High Point Road exit and turn left at the light at the bottom of the hill. Keep going west until you see the store on the right hand side. They put out a circular of popular toys that will be bargain priced on Black Friday. They open at six o'clock in the morning so get there early.

Target- Target offers a huge variety of items at bargain prices. They do not offer layaway for the shopper who wants to take advantage of that service. Furniture and bedding bargain can be found at Target on Black Friday. Target opens its doors at around six-thirty.

Watch your cart. People can become a little unscrupulous when shopping so guard your finds. They just may disappear.

Tag team inside the store. Carts are hard to maneuver through the aisles. Send your partner to retrieve what you want to buy. By the time you arrive with the cart, your partner will be making their way to you with items in hand.
