Avoid the Black Friday Crush - Shop the Lost Stores
They are more or less lost in the shuffle of everyone getting to the mall to grab up the bargains of the century, at least for this year. I take a good look at my list and then consider the products available in the lost stores and see who I can make feel special with a special, quality, not necessarily bargain priced, gift. Ironically enough these stores tend to hold interest for my husband and sons too. I know, color me crazy, two kids in a glass shop, but they are enthralled with the workmanship that goes into the pieces. A craft store filled with yarn you say? Yes, its amazing how tactile children are, they feel them all and consider if they would like something made out of it. Books to thumb through, special gifts for grandparents, plants they've never seen before, candy to taste, and papers and art supplies to choose for their own special cards. Life is good and so is the shopping on Black Friday if you don't fall into the mass marketing trap. Mind you that's not to say these stores will not have specials of their own on that day of days but chances are they will not be advertisied in a specail double wide edition of the local paper on Thursday.

It's worth a trip out to Worcester MA to shop at TeeterTots, a European resale shop just for children (Newborn - size 12). They are having a Trunk Sale in Shrewsbury MA on 12/8 & 12/9. I just saw on craigslist.org that they are offering 20% off if you email teetertots@gmail.com. It's worth the drive - they have great clothes starting at $4 for EUROPEAN labels! No joke!
