Here is a poem I wrote in the 1970's about my best friend at the time. It was excavated during a recent excursion into the junk room upstairs. An un-edited time capsule from when I liked my poems to rhyme.
You are always a good friend
When I have a heart to mend
You have a lot of love to share
Even when I really don't care
You've got a wide shoulder to cry on
A deep breathe to sigh on
A strong arm to hold me
A finger to shake and scold me
You lend a sympathetic ear
To listen to me and hear
Helped get me out of a mess
Preached to me some common sense
Always with a willing hand
To hold, comfort and understand
The love I send is from the heart
In hopes that we will never part
Cause if someday you're feeling blue
I will be there as a friend for you.
