Flour Mixture:
2 cups flour
2 cups sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
Mix in large bowl and set aside.
Egg Mixture:
2 eggs beaten
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 cup milk
Mix in small bowl and set aside.
Hot Mixture:
2 sticks margarine
1 cup water
3 Tablespoons baking cocoa
Put in saucepan and bring to a boil.
Add hot mixture to flour mixture. Mix well and add egg mixture. Mix thoroughly. Pour on to un-greased cookie sheet with sides and bake for 20 minutes in an oven heated to 350 degrees.
Make icing the last 5 minutes the cake is baking.
Icing:
1 stick margarine
4 Tablespoons cocoa
6 Tablespoons milk
Put in saucepan, mix and bring to a boil. Remove from heat and add:
1 box powdered sugar
1 cup chopped nuts (optional)
Remove cake from oven and gently loosen sides with a knife: poke all over cake with a toothpick. Gently spread hot icing over cake while both are still hot. Cool slightly, and either slice and serve; or store in tupperware. You can also cover it with aluminum foil and freeze in on the cookie sheet. It can be eaten frozen for a refreshing summer treat. This cake is also very conducive to decorating after the icing sets firmly.
