There are many gay bars and clubs in, or close to Pittsburgh. Pittsburgh is very gay-friendly, and the atmosphere is wonderful for people of alternative lifestyles. Some of the better clubs are listed here.

Pegasus Lounge

Pegasus Lounge is perhaps the most popular and well-known nightclub for gays and lesbians and bisexuals. The bar boasts people of all sexuality, including drag queens, transgenders, bisexuals and bi curious. The bar displays hanging TV sets showing passionate videos while everyone dances the night away. the music is a mix of hip-hop, R&B, classics, and most of all, electronica music. The music and club caters to the twenty-something crowd, and is more popular with single people looking to find a future date or one-night stand. 5801 Video Lounge and Cafe

The Video Lounge is located right outside of Pittsburgh, in Shadyside. The bar in itself has an older atmosphere as you may find yourself watching Madonna or Robert Palmer's videos on the huge plasma TV at the bar and throughout the room. This toned-down, laid back bar features not just TV, but Happy Hour, a dartboard, game machines, and a heated deck in the back for warmer weather. Images Bar

Images Bar, at 965 Liberty avenue in Pittsburgh, is a bar that stands out for its very name. The image portrayed at this club is welcoming and very friendly. the bar is usually filled with men, in conservative attire, who are there to relax and unwind after a hard days work. The club has a smaller dance floor, brick walls, and is not as fancy as its Pittsburgh counterparts. Nonetheless, it is a popular place with a great clientele. Lizard Lounge

The Lizard Lounge was transformed into what it is today from Ray's Marlin Beach Bar and Grill way back in the late 1880's. The bar was originally an apartment, and now with the original fireplaces and rooms still there, gives off a very comfortable "house-party" image. The Lizard Lounge often hosts many popular alternative bands, such as the Smiths, The Clash, Ramones, and The Dead Milkman. the decor is casual yet different, such as the large beach ball enclosed in a glass tube. Thursday is the clubs "Blend In and Out" night which is meant for the gay crowd, and Fridays are geared towards drum and bass. The Lounge is available during the week for private parties.
