Best Gifts for Babies 3 Months Old: Under $30

Great Gift Ideas for New Bundles of Joy!

When babies are this young it's hard to tell what you can buy them. I have 2 boys myself a 3 year old and a 3 month old. When buying for other children that are in this age range I usually keep it simple. At this age they are just beginning to take interest in toys and their surroundings, but can't really play with anything.

Clothes are always nice, for the first year you can barely keep them in anything for longer than 2 or 3 months. Don't buy anything real fancy or expensive though. If you are buying for the next size up make sure it's appropriate for the season that they will wear it in. I would also steer away from holiday apparel, it is nice to let them wear it more than just around Christmas. You can get a great outfit or just some pieces like hats, socks, or undershirts for under $25.

You could also decide to go with some books, they have some great soft cloth books that are colorful and can be played with now and down the road. It's never too early to start to read and it will give the parents some time with the baby too.

If you are interested in buying toys for the baby, I don't recommend buying stuffed animals. It isn't safe to have them near baby or in the crib for suffocation reasons and when they get older they are rarely played with. Besides their house is already overrun with baby things, please do not buy enormous stuffed bears to take up more space. Blocks, rattles, teething toys, toys that light up, or toys that play music are all good options. There are a variety of things out there that are inexpensive and really great toys. Leap Frog and Fisher-Price have toys that teach different skills which is really nice. Make sure not to buy anything with small parts or sharp edges, most toys will have an appropriate age range. You could always ask to see what the parents already have, my boys both loved the Ocean Wonders Aquarium by Fisher-Price, it is just under $30 at Wal-mart.

Baby gear is also another option, you could look into buying safety equipment, such as outlet guards to protect the electrical outlets, safety gates, cabinet and door locks, stove guards, or door knob guards. Safety is very important, these are things that the parents could really use. They don't take long before they start to crawl, explore, and get into things. Most of these things won't be more than $20.

You could also buy something like a quilt, baby book, photo album or something that is personalized just for the baby. There are tons of options when doing this, they don't have to be expensive either. My husband's grandmother actually made us a blanket and a photo album with my son's name on it. My husband actually still has his from when he was a baby, so they really are a special gift to give that they will love forever. If buying these make sure you allow time to get it personalized if it has to be sent away somewhere.

Please take into consideration about the parents needs as well, it's better to buy something they can use instead of something that will just clutter up a tiny apartment or sit in a closet somewhere. There are tons of great options out there for this age range and they don't have to break the bank. Don't be afraid to search online, places like Amazon, Wal-mart, K-mart, JC Penney's, all have websites online that do the work for you and split up different compartments for each category.

A really great present for a baby is a toy that will clip onto their carseat or stroller. That way it will keep even small babies entertained, won't get lost, and doesn't add extra clutter.
