Over the holiday season (which was once upon a time meant to honor and worship Jesus, but now is designed to worship people, money and the shopping centers), one of the biggest problems is that in the stress of making sure that everyone gets their desired gifts, people forget about the ones most close to them - their husband or wife. Before we go any further, there are a few things to keep in mind - do not get gifts that will be either more work for your spouse, or is something that you will be the one using. I've known of many wives who buy their husbands appliances or will buy a book that they want to read with their husband when he doesn't want to. Avoid this tendency - get a gift that's directed towards them and is something that they will use. Not something that you like. Here are some good gifts to consider for your husbands over the holidays:
A new golf set/other sports equipment - If your husband enjoys sporting every now and then, then this is something for him. Based on his favorite sport, get him something that he likes - a football, a soccer ball, a new golf club set (or even just one) and maybe even a new bike. After the purchase don't pester your husband to use it regularly either. It was a gift, and let it be so. This is one of the gifts that husbands love the most. This is the kind of gift that says - I want you to do what you enjoy, I am for you and want you to be happy. Your gift should be directed towards a long relationship, not a momentary emotion.
The Carganizer - The carganizer is a pretty cool car organizer that will help your husband keep the stuff in his car organized and not worry about spilling stuff on his files or in the car, or wondering what happened to his favorite CD. Be careful of not giving the 'you are messy' message to your husband though. The carganizer has Velcro bottom so it will not slip or slide on the sit, and has multiple chambers with different accessibility for each to help place the different things differently. For example, CDs and pens are much more accessible that say, an office file folder. To make this more special, you can burn a CD of his favorite songs and add a personal message to it.
An exercise set - A bowflex would be ideal...almost, but get him an exercise set and see his eyes light up. Most guys will jump at the idea of being able to work out at home and save time and money on gas and gym. Again, be careful about not seeming to say - here you go, now you better work out and get in shape! This is again a gift that says - I love you, I want you to exercise because I know you like it, and I want you to be healthy. At the very least, try to get a set of moderate weights, a bench, and a barbell with some weights. What would make it even more special is if you try working out with him regularly and you play the CD that you burnt for him in the background. How cool is that?
Make him a special meal. Yeah, I know this sounds cliche, but the way to a man's heart is indeed through the stomach. Now imagine this - You ask you husband to try out the new golf club or whatever you got him. He gets in the car to get his buddies, and finds the carganizer with your personalized burnt CD in there. After enjoying the game and the music, he comes home to his favorite dish, prepared just for him by you. After some good time together, you decide to watch a movie in the basement, and he walks in to see a mini-gym set up for him. Can you see the toothy smile yet?

Post a Comment"Jesus Saves". Yeah I really want to read an article of what to get my loving husband for Christmas by a pessimistic bible-thumping Jesus freak, who is pissed that we don't go to church every sunday and sing out "The First Noel" and cheer for Jesus around every corner. And in his/her small-minded lack of intelligence cant seem to grasp the understanding that Christmas builds our American economy. Idiot.
Whitney it has nothing to do with being babies. It has to do with that it is a gift for him, not a punishment, or a gift for you. If you want your man to be healthy that is awesome, but that is not a gift for him. That is like saying I got your a pan, you need to cook, because it is a good for our relationship when you are in the kitchen. Unless you like to cook, that is a gift the guy buys for himself, not for his wife. The article says it is very clearly, a gift needs to be for the person getting it, not giving it. It sounds like you are very selfish in your gift giving.
Wow. you can really tell a man wrote this article, but a generic man. I agree with Becky. My husband is not into sports at all and cherishes gifts that aren't common. There still are people that use Christmas to be with family, (not all wound up in the money and presents) even though they don't celebrate it as Christ's birthday. In his information about the gift ideas he presents he constantly states to be sure to not send the wrong message when buying a gift like your husband is gonna cry if you get him a treadmill if hes overweight. Hello!? if the relationship was as sound as a marriage should be then it wouldn't be a problem. The wife cares about her husbands health, the man knows he needs to get in shape, and should care more about himself. men should not be babies.
I think these are great ideas! These are definitely thoughtful gifts Thanks.
This article assumes that all men are athletic or into sports. It's a list of common gifts - not thoughtful ones.
