This year, why not surprise your mom by showing you care and doing something out of the ordinary. No, you don't need to jump through hoops or fly through the air to make your mom proud of you. Mom's are proud of you for even the smallest of things, things that no one else would even notice.
Here's a list of suggestions for things you can do and surprise your mom this Mother's Day.
Clean your room or help around the house. Take a little time out during the Mother's Day Weekend and make your room sparkle and help out around the house. Little things, like stacking up the newspapers, help to clean up the garage, take out the garbage without anyone asking you to. Surprising mom is not hard to do.
Plant a hanging garden for your mom. Get dad or someone to take you to a garden shop and check out all the plants that they have just got in for spring. Pick out a nice pot (suitable for hanging) and some blooming flowers or vegetables to put in it. Plants like pansies, petunias, or tomatoes might bee good choices. Your mom will be able to have blooming flowers or fresh veggies all summer long.
Wash and wax your mom's car. If your mom is busy working all week long and doesn't have a lot of time to clean her car, it would be a great surprise to wash, vacuum, and wax her car for her. Get dad, brother or someone to help you, and then add a fresh scent by getting one of those air fresheners so it will smell fresh when she's driving it.
Let mom sleep in late. Maybe your mom gets up early everyday to go to work, take you to school, pack lunches, or start the laundry. Tell your mom she should sleep in as late as she wants, and then make a nice breakfast for her. An easy breakfast can be bagels and cream cheese, fresh strawberries, and a nice cup of her favorite coffee or tea.
If you don't live near or with your mom, try to make a special trip or have someone take you to see her. Pick up a flowering plant, bouquet of flowers, or a basket filled with some of her favorite goodies on your way. She'll be thrilled to have you all to herself on her special day.
Take mom out. Mom's love to spend time with you at home, but they also like to go out. Think about some places she likes to go, like the zoo, beach, or maybe the botanical gardens. A simple picnic in the park or going to church with her might be something she would really enjoy doing with you. Plan to take mom someplace she would really enjoy, give her some choices, and have a blast with your mom.
Homemade cards. Moms love to get homemade cards. Get an older sister or brother, or a friend to help gather the things you'll need. Things like paper, paints, markers, glitter, or stickers, and ask them to help you make a special card to mom from you. A card that you make will mean more to her than any card you could buy. You can add a nice picture of yourself, your family, or of your mom when she was a little girl. She will love it!
Make a video for mom. DVD's are very easy to make now-a-days, and one with some pictures of your mom hugging you, Christmas or other family events, pictures of you getting a cub scout award, or staring in your school play might be some of her favorite memories. Even if you live far away and can't be with your mom on Mother's Day, you can mail it to her so that she will get it before the Mother's Day weekend.
Love. The best gift you can give to your mom is to show her you care. You love your mom, so let her know with lots of hugs, smiles, laughs and create some new memories. Mom's like to know you care all year, but Mother's Day is important. It is a day especially for her, so make it special for both of you.
