Best Gifts for Ohio State Football Fans: Under $55

Angela Coleman
Yep, October is here and, in just two-and-a-half months, the holiday shopping season will be upon us. I always like to be ahead of things, however, as there is nothing more nerve-racking to me than last-minute desperation shops through the mall and standing in long store lines. I've always thought the wisest thing is to have all the gifts purchased, wrapped and hidden away before the holiday rush. That way, I avoid all the stress usually connected with that time of the year and I actually get to enjoy my family and friends..

My husband is a huge fan of Ohio State's football team, so I know that at least one or two of my gifts for him have to revolve around merchandise related to that fact.. Since I am not so inclined myself towards much of anything having to do with sports, I've sought the advice of others in finding some gifts that will please my "armchair gladiator,".without having to go too far beyond our budget limit for total holiday spending.

If you are a Buckeyes fan or just trying to find a gift for one, I suggest the following items for your consideration:

Ohio State Trashcan/ Laundry Bag/ Beverage Cooler With Team Logo

This item comes in Ohio State colors and can be used by its recipient as a trashcan or hamper for dirty clothes. If they prefer, they can even use it to carry beverages .if, for instance, they have invited buddies over to watch the game with them. (I love that idea, because that means I will have to do less trotting back and forth to replenish their supply of soft drinks.)

This item is 19 " tall and 16.5" wide, with handles on the side, and is easily collapsible. It's leak proof, meaning you won't have to worry about there being a big mess.

Cost:$19.99

Ohio State Chair for Tailgating

You may not live close enough to get to a Buckeyes game, but this will at least make you feel like you're there.

This folding chair is in team colors and made out of a very strong nylon, with the team logo on both back and front It's got a cupholder armrest and storage pocket at the back, where snacks or other items can be put. It's a very functional chair and of relatively good size, with an 18" by 22" seat, and sturdy frame.

If you or the person upon whom you are bestowing this are of average weight, you should be able to sit in this chair comfortably. If you are a little larger in size, I would check first with the manufacturer or company before purchasing this, to make sure that it is viable for you.

Cost: $26.99

Ohio State Wall Clock

Find out what time it is via this Buckeye-inspired wall clock.

Nothing fancy here, but it's well-made and has a decent value. It's 12" and has the Ohio State Buckeyes team logo.

My husband has a little area in our apartment that he has designated as "his" area, so that is where he can put this item, where he can gaze upon it fondly and it will not get in my way.

Cost: $29.99

Ohio State Watch

If you are just looking for an economic piece of team-related jewelry, this is something you may want to take a look at,

This handsome watch, with rubber strap and stainless steel buckle and back, is a nice conversation piece for fans of the Buckeyes. It has a Citizen quartz movement and comes in a tin gift box.

I like the idea that it comes with a 2-year warranty, because less expensive watches can easily break down, so having this in place will save you innumerable repair costs.

Cost: $34.95

Ohio State Snack Bowl Helmet

My husband would hate me saying that this is a "cute" gift idea, but- let's admit it- it is..

This item for "snackies" looks like an official team helmet and is 10" tall by 9.25" wide and about 12" deep. A double-compartment tray is in the facemask area and a larger container is at the top of the helmet..The tray and container can be microwaved, but just make sure you tell your husband or significant other not to microwave the actual helmet. (Sometimes, they get so excited about the game, they lose touch!)

My husband really likes stuff like this, because it helps "get him in the spirit of the game," according to him.

Cost: $49.99

Ohio State Windshirt

This is a great shirt, designed by Nike with the college name emblazoned across the front.
It's made out of 100% polyester and, though it probably is not heavy enough for much colder weather, it will handily keep away the fall chill. It comes in sizes Medium, Large,
X-Large and XX-Large.

Cost: $50.00

Where and Why?

These items can all be purchased at JLRTouchdownSports' online store.

I like the merchandise they offer, as well as the convenience of being able to buy these things online, without having to go out in the brutal holiday traffic, fight for parking spaces and look behind my back every second for potential carjackers. This is a lot safer, cheaper and easier to do.

Besides that, they accept Paypal payments!
