Having a quality putter can make all the difference in the world for your golf score and reduce the number of times you use the Lord's name in vain. There's nothing worse than having a great drive to the green and then three putting to a Bogey. Yes, you will still have to practice putting, but the following clubs will will improve your chances of not looking like a chump.
1. Odyssey White Steel 2-Ball SRT - Odyssey's patented 2-Ball alignment system helps when lining up your putt. This putter is extremely popular. Why? Because it works. They now have a 3-ball alignment system but I find that to be overkill. It's like Gillette coming out with a razor every year that adds yet another blade. Are 5 blades really necessary? When will it stop! You can get this for $99 at www.dicksportinggoods.com
2. HOG Golf 1004R Belly Putter - If you feel that twisting is causing the majority of your putting issues, this may be the club for you. It will offer you more stability and HOG is known for designing some of the best belly putters. These are usually over the $150 mark but I've found them on Ebay for around $119.99.
3. Nike Unitized Leo Putter - This is one of two putters I currently have in my golf bag. It's one of the more classic blade designs without any bells and whistles. It might not look fancy but it solved one of my main putting problems - hitting the ball too far. It's engineered to provide the right amount of vibration that provides the feedback I needed to more accurately judge my putting distance. You can get it for $99 at www.amazon.com.
4. TaylorMade Rossa Spider Putter - A few months ago when my friend pulled this beast out of his bag my reaction was simply "Wow." Not only does it look amazing, it has done wonders for his putting. It's steel wire frame is designed to put more weight on the perimeter so when you hit the ball off-center center it still provides distance control. You can get it at www.sportsauthority.com for on sale for $150.
5. Golfsmith Limited Edition Enterprise Putter - I mentioned I had two putters in my golf bag. This is the other one and I saved the best for last. This putter is a complete replica of the U. S. S. Star Trek Enterprise! When you pull this spaceship on a stick out of your bag, people may question your sanity. However, what looks like a novelty item is an amazingly designed professional club with the most forgiving putter head I've ever used. When you sink a 30 foot putt with this make sure so say "Oh My!" like Sulu. It is on www.golfsmith.com for $150. Make sure you order one soon as only 1,700 have been produced.
There you have it. Remember: "Drive for show, putt for dough. "
