Best Halloween Party Songs

Have a Thriller Night with These Halloween Songs

K. Bellamy
The best Halloween songs for a party should be fun and, well, just a little spooky and creepy. Keep the spirit of the Halloween holiday by playing Halloween songs that your party crowd can sing along to, dance to, or even act out some "scenes" from the songs.

Most of the Halloween songs I've selected for my party are tried and true favorites. But I threw in a few unexpected surprises here and there. If you've never heard the song that I selected, be sure to check it out on iTunes. I had fun searching for these Halloween songs. I hope you enjoy checking the list for your favorites or checking the list for some new songs. I know that finding all of these new Halloween songs sure put a dent in my monthly iTunes budget. The good thing is - many of them can be enjoyed year-round.

The list of Halloween songs is divided into pre-party and party songs. For the pre-party, almost all of the songs I've listed are more subdued or not really "danceable" songs. I threw in a fast one or a danceable one here and there, though, just to keep my guests from turning into zombies.

The Halloween songs I included in the dance section are my favorites and are mostly fast numbers.

Begin Your Party with these Halloween Songs

For the beginning of your party start with some slower Halloween songs as the guests arrive. You will still be setting the spooky tone for your Halloween party but the songs won't be competing for too much attention as your guests greet each other. If there's a local band with Halloween songs, be sure to include them for a fun twist. For instance, here in Coastal Georgia we couldn't leave out the B-52's from up Athens, Georgia way.

Welcome to My Nightmare - Alice Cooper
This is Halloween - From the movie "Nightmare Before Christmas" or I also like the Marilyn Manson version
Black Magic Woman - Santana
Munster's Theme - Jack Marshall
Devil Went Down to Georgia - Charlie Daniels Band
Love Potion No. 9 - The Searchers
Gravedigger Rock - The Polecats
Transylvania Mania - From the movie, "Young Frankenstein"
Addams Groove - M.C. Hammer
Little Shop of Horrors - From the movie, "Little Shop of Horrors"
Witchy Woman - The Eagles
Bad Moon Rising - Creedance Clearwater Revival
Devil in My Car - B-52's
Voodoo - Chris Isaak
Don't Fear the Reaper - Blue Oyster Cult
Lil' Red Riding Hood - Sam the Sham or Sea Monster
In the Midnight Hour - Wilson Pickett
Hotel California - The Eagles (not strictly about Halloween but I think it's spooky. Follow it with "Psycho" - for obvious reasons)

Halloween Songs - It's Time to Dance

You don't need voodoo to let your Halloween guests know that it's time to get the party started. What to do? Throw in a Halloween theme song that will grab their attention. Try "Psycho" - they are sure to notice. Inject a little humor by following "Psycho" with "They're Coming to Take Me Away". Then launch those Halloween songs for dancing.

Keep your Halloween songs peppy with a few slow dance numbers and surprises thrown in here and there. When the party is at its best, throw in a Thriller - you already know the right one.

Psycho Theme - The Ghost Doctors
They're Coming to Take Me Away - Napoleon's Ghost
Superstition - Stevie Wonder
Witchqueen of New Orleans - Tom Jones (Remix/Dance version) or Redbone
Werewolves of London - Warren Zevon
Somebody's Watching Me - Rockwell
Witchcraft - Elvis Presley
King Tut - Steve Martin
I Put a Spell on You - Creedance Clearwater Revival
Devil with a Blue Dress On - Mitch Ryder and the Detroit Wheels
Devil Inside - INXS
Ghostbusters - Ray Parker, Jr. - and you know the movie
Monster Mash - Bobby "Boris" Pickett or Mannheim Steamroller
Spooky - The Classics IV or The Atlanta Rhythm Section
I'm Your Boogie Man - K.C. and the Sunshine Band
I Want Candy - Bow Wow Wow
Thriller - Michael Jackson
