Best Halloween Songs with a Monster, Ghouls, and Ghosts Theme

Put a Scare in Your Halloween Party

K. Bellamy
If you like Halloween songs with monsters, ghouls, ghosts, and other creepies that go bump in the night, you'll enjoy these favorites. Many you've heard before, but some of them take on a whole new meaning for Halloween.

Most of these songs can be downloaded at iTunes. But if I was unable to find it there, I included additional information or an optional link.

Best Halloween Songs for Monsters, Ghouls, and Ghosts

Scary Monsters - David Bowie
Might as well start out with a scary Halloween song by David Bowie from his Scary Monsters album from back in 1980. Scary monsters and super creeps keep him running scared. That's probably a good plan.

If you like this one, you might also check out "Scream Like a Baby," from the same Scary Monsters album.

Monster Mash - Bobby "Boris" Pickett & The Crypt-Kickers
Just in case you've been under a pumpkin shell and haven't heard this one - I had to include it. Otherwise, you know this Halloween song is a perennial must-have for the Halloween season. Even if you're a little tired of it, you have to admit, you can't live without it when October rolls around.

Monster is Loose - Meat Loaf
Another Halloween favorite from Meat Loaf's "Bat Out of Hell" album.

Feed My Frankenstein - Alice Cooper
Alice Cooper will crop up multiple times on anyone's favorite Halloween song list. I've included two here and some others on my other Halloween songs lists. When Alice Cooper entitled an album "Welcome to My Nightmare," he wasn't kidding. And this isn't even one of the songs from that album!

Teenage Frankenstein - Alice Cooper
Here's another Frankenstein song for you from Alice Cooper, my favorite king of Halloween scream.

The Munster's Theme - Jack Marshall
On a lighter note, here's the popular theme song from the television show. Thank goodness for re-runs. Now more than one generation of kids and kids at heart can enjoy this Halloween song.

I'm Your Boogie Man - K.C. and the Sunshine Band
They are talking about the disco scene here, but nevermind, here's an upbeat Halloween song that is perfect to dance to - I give it a 10.

Boogie Monster - Gnarls Barkley
I stumbled across this perfect Halloween song while looking around on iTunes. If you haven't heard it before, be sure to give this song from this British band a listen. "I've got a monster in my closet, someone's underneath my bed..." - scary enough for you?

Frankenstein - Edgar Winter or Ringo Starr
A spooky instrumental Halloween song. Either version is a good one. You'll recognize the tune as soon as you hear it. Am I the last one to know the name of this song is Frankenstein? Probably.

Addams Groove - M.C. Hammer
I had forgotten about this "riff "on the Addams family by M.C. Hammer until I began looking for a different version of the Addams family theme song for my Halloween party. What a perfect party tune.

Mean Green Mother From Outer Space - Levi Stubbs
If you haven't seen the the play or the movie, "Little Shop of Horrors," then you must see it. Buy it for your Halloween viewing pleasure. Like always, the movie had some songs that were not in the Broadway show. This one, by the great Levi Stubbs of the The Four Tops is one of the highlights of the movie. I was unable to find this Halloween song on iTunes but JibJab.com came through with a link to the footage from the movie and the song. Enjoy it by clicking here.

King Tut - Steve Martin
Maybe it's a stretch here, but King Tut is now a mummy - and mummies are ghoulish - so Steve Martin's hilarious song makes it on my Halloween list. Besides, how can you deny everyone doing the King Tut "dance" at your Halloween party. If you don't know what I mean, check out this YouTube video here. Also available on iTunes.

Ghosts - Stevie Nicks
Stevie Nicks has that unique, maybe even haunting voice. So a song about ghosts from her is a good addition to your Halloween playlist. This tune is fairly subdued so it would make a good background Halloween song as your guests arrive.

Ghosts in My Machine - Annie Lennox
There have been times I thought ghosts were in my computer (machine) so I'm glad Annie Lennox has had that same problem. Actually, I'm not sure what machine she's talking about since this song appears on her "Songs of Mass Destruction" album. But it has a good driving beat and some spooky parts, so it is a perfect Halloween song for dancing.
