Mugglenet:
Mugglenet was founded in the fall of 1999 by 12-year old Emerson Spartz after he started home schooling, as he says on Mugglenet's About Us page "I had too much time on my hands and I thought it would be fun to make a website. I had no idea what I was getting in to." I don't think anyone could've had any idea of what Mugglenet would become. Mugglenet is widely regarded as the best Harry Potter fan site on the net. Fan's check in many times a day to make sure they're up to date on the newest Harry Potter news. Mugglenet' features include descriptions of the first six books, rumors on the seventh book and information on the first five movies, just like most Harry Potter fan sites, but they also have features like an e-newsletter, games (which, as I think about it, are probably features on other sites as well, but none are like Mugglenet's), editorials and my personal favorite section, The Wall of Shame, which is a section devoted to displaying some of the more.....interesting letter's the Mugglenet staff receive, and much more. Even a person who comes to the site knowing absolutely nothing about Harry Potter will come away with the ability to name all of the Defense Against the Dark Arts Teachers in order from fisrt to last and back again and correctly name Voldemort's Death Eaters. If you love Harry Potter, then Mugglenet.com is the place for you.
The Leaky Cauldron:
TLC is another favorite Harry Potter fan site. It has the usual features of a Harry Potter fan site, info on the books and movies and discussions, but they also have a Podcast both on their own and with Mugglenet (who also have their own). TLC also has a chat, essays, reviews and more. The sites' webmistress is the very talented Melissa Anelli who's been with the site since 2001,she runs the site with her wonderful staff who all work like House-Elves to make sure Harry Potter fans are kept up to date on the latest news. TLC certainly ranks high on my list. It's well run, easy to use and very informative. Fans of Harry Potter will love this site and all of it's features.
The Harry Potter Lexicon:
The Lexicon is yet another great Harry Potter fan site. Of course it has the usual overviews of The books and rumors about book seven, but it also has some very unique features. These features include an Atlas with descriptions of all of the magical places in the Harry Potter Universe, a Who's Who in the Wizarding World, an Encyclopedia of Potions, The Bestiary which has descriptions of the creatures Harry and his friends meet, a Visitor's Guide to Hogwarts and, of course, more. They even have an overview of the two "School books" that Rowling wrote for charity. I've been visiting this site for years and have always found it useful. Visitors to this site will be amazed at all of the information the Lexicon's staff has amassed. The Lexicon, TLC and Mugglenet more than earn spots in the Harry Potter fan site Hall of Fame.
