Over the last couple of days Floridians have experienced a slight temperature drop. Finally they can breathe in deeply without the humidity taking over. Whenever the cool weather starts to approach, it's a good time to start getting ready for Halloween. Take a weekend with your family and friends and head off to your very own spooky adventures, at one of the best haunted houses to visit in Florida.

1.Melbourne Jaycees annual haunted trail in Melbourne,FL was rated the number one haunted trail in Florida for 2002-2003, and the number two haunted trail for 2004-2005. This inexpensive haunted trail will only cost $5.00 per a person, and children under 5 years old are free. The trail will be open on the following days until Halloween:
Friday October 27, 2006 Dark until Midnight
Saturday October 28, 2006 Dark until Midnight
Sunday October 29, 2006 Dark until 10 pm
Monday October 30, 2006 Dark until 10 pm
Tuesday HALLOWEEN Dark until Midnight

If you decide to go ahead and make a day trip in Melbourne, FL here are some places to visit during the daytime. Check out historic downtown Melbourne. With its old charm you can enjoy a quiet stroll through the tree-lined streets and pop into one of the many antique shops along your way. For lunch or dinner enjoy an authentic Irish meal at my favorite restaurant and pub, Meg O'Malley's. After dinner you'll want to drive over the Indian River causeway, towards Melbourne's most popular beach hangout, the boardwalk. At Melbourne's boardwalk you can sip on starbucks, or enjoy a sinful cup of coldstones creamery ice-cream.

2. Haunted Grimm House in the old town of Kissimmee, FL will put the fright in your Halloween for only $10.00 a person. Experience a night of scares as you make your way around the 4,000 square foot Victorian house that was built in 1886. The Grim family had their house built in a swap, and conducted their family run funeral business there until 1929. Rumor has it the family was murdered by their own butler. Don't miss the most frightening night of your life at the Haunted Grimm House in Kissimmee, FL.
When: Noon-10 p.m., daily
Phone: 407-397-2231
Where: Old Town, 5770 W. Irlo Bronson Hwy., Kissimmee
Directions: One mile east of I-4 exit 64A (old exit #25A) on Hwy 192 in Old Town

3. Terror of Tallahassee in Tallahassee, FL is last but certainly not least on my least of haunted happenings in Florida. If your up for hearing your own blood curdling screams, this haunted house is for you. Brought to you by the Mystery Playhouse of Terror, experience the real history behind Tallahassee's Sunland asylum. The 3,000 square feet new addition to Terror of Tallahassee brings you the story behind the 400 bed building that was a quarantine facility for Tuberculosis during the years 1942-1968. Ticket prices are $10.00 per a person, and $6.00 for children 12 and under.

One question. Why the charges? I own a real haunted house in New Hampshire and allow people in for free. I even provide food and beverages. We get on average 20-50 people in on Halloween and a few stragglers here and there during the rest of the year.
