The transition from summer to fall brings out some of the best qualaties in nature. Washington State is home to some of the best outdoor activities. From the beaches of the Pacific ocean to the mountains of the Cascades and Olympics, Washington has more to offer in the way of hiking than most states. Olympic National Park offers a varety of interesting and exciting hikes that range in every difficulty level. For a simple fee of under ten dollars you can enjoy a few hours on the trail or backpacking under the stars for an entire weekend. The Olympics are located in Western Washington only a half hours time from Port Angeles. If your in the mood for a little sight seeing you can also make the trip to Forls, Wa where the movie Twilight is based. Only a short drive from Forks is another highlight of Olympic National Park and that is the Ho River Rainforest. The Ho trail starts in the lowlands in a beautiful rain forest that is home to some of the worlds largest trees. The Ho rain forest is also considered one of the quietest places on Earth. Starting in the rain forest one can then transition along the trail up into the mountains. If you are feeling really adventurous you can soend a few days and hike up to the glacies on Mt. Olympus, the highest peak in the Olympics. For those looking for a more subtle hike you need only to look about fifteen minutes north of Port Angeles. Hurrican Ridge offers the hiker a trail that awes and inspires. The hike stretches several seneic miles along Hurrican Ridge. Hurrican Ridge is an excellent choice for the family or a simple day trip. The Olympics also offers great trails for those wishing to backpack in the wilderness for a few days. Whiskey Bend trail stretches 27 miles through the heart of the Olympics. This trail provides a more challenging climb witha pack but is easily navigatable for the beginner or novice. Beautiful Douglas Firs and Redwoods are in abundance along this trail that com[prosies of senic overlooks and switchbacks. Those who wish to enjoy the best view from atop the Olympics will be excited to explore Mt. Elinore. The climb require no experience and can be accomplished in a few hours. The view from the top is well worth the hike as it gives the hiker a panaromic view of the Olympics. Remeber that no matter the size of the group or the hiking level, Olympic National Park offers an exhilarting experience for the adventurer or casual hiker.
