Best Holiday Gifts for Employees

Picking holiday gifts for employees can be a frustrating task. From small business owners to the director at a large corporation, managers want to pick the best holiday gifts for employees (within a budget, of course).

Of course, each employee has a different idea of what the best holiday gift is, so picking gifts that will make everyone happy may seem impossible.

However, with a little thought and planning, finding the best holiday gifts for employees doesn't have to be so complicated. Here are some easy ideas for picking the best holiday gifts for employees.

* One holiday gift idea for employees is the gift of time. The holiday season is busy for everyone and a great way to show employees that they are appreciated is an afternoon off before or after the holidays.

Giving employees even a few extra hours off on a Friday can make a big difference and is a great holiday gift idea for employees of any type of organization.

* Food is another great holiday gift for employees. One large Fortune 100 consumer products company gives its employees a large treat basket every year for Christmas, with goodies including cookies and candies, along with some of the company's newest products as a special treat.

The employee food basket may seem overused, but that's because it's one of the best holiday gift ideas for employees - most folks like to eat and it's great to share food with others during the holidays.

* Items personalized with the company logo are another holiday gift idea for employees. Choosing something useful to the employee is key to making this holiday gift worthwhile.

Mugs, luggage, and golf balls are three items that can easily be personalized with your company logo and are also likely to be used by your employees. Stay away from the personalized company T-shirts and other "boring" corporate items.

* Of course, the famous "Christmas bonus" is a great holiday gift idea for employees. Whether a small monetary bonus or a gift card to a local restaurant or store, the Christmas bonus is one of the best holiday gifts for employees since it puts employees in charge with using the gift as he or she wishes.

The last is the best idea! Food isn't such a great idea unless you are willing to find out if they have any food allergies or intolerances. Thanks to my own allergies/intolerances, I would be horrified by a basket of snack goodies.

The biggest mistake people make when buying gifts for employees or co-workers is to go too cheap. It's better to give something meaningful, even if it's homemade or non-tangible, than to give something tacky.
