Best Home Based Business for Stay-At-Home Parents

Lois Ryan
When there is a new addition to the family, one of the parents usually makes a decision to stay at home with the child while the other the one works. While the mother needs to take time off from work to recover from childbirth she may want to be the one who wants to get back into the workforce once she is ready. Even though in the past the mother was the one who was the stay-at-home parent, more and more fathers today are playing the role of the "Mister Mom."

There are many advantages of being a stay-at-home parent. With the rising costs of day care expenses, it makes better sense to save money where one parent stays at home. It is also better for the children; this helps build a special bond between the parent and child. Even if the child is not an infant, one of the parents may decide to stay at home to help the child adjust to school more easily or to even provide an education for the child at home.

If you decide to be a stay-at-home parent, you must remember that your household will be going from a two to a one pay check family. In today's society, it is almost impossible-because of the rises in costs of living-to survive on one income. However, do not let this scare you if you are thinking of being a stay-at-home parent. There are many businesses that you can do right in your home.

Call around to different businesses in your area, including law and doctors offices. They may have jobs where you can type up transcriptions and data entry at home. This is an excellent opportunity if you are a fast and accurate typist. For a transcription position, you may have to take a course at a local college or business institute and get certified.

You can also sell items on Ebay. While the best place to start is in your own house, getting rid of stuff you no longer use, you can expand to your local neighborhood. Go to different garage sales and purchase items that people would like. Sell it on Ebay at a higher price that you paid for it. Just a few sales a day will keep the profits rolling in.

If you love to research and write, try making an income doing some freelance writing. Check out websites, such as AssociatedContent.com. There are many potential money-making incomes on this site.

Since you are already staying at home with your child, think about making money by caring for other people's children. You will be providing a safe place for another child, giving the parents a peace of mind and making a profit while doing in. You are also giving the children the opportunity to bond into a friendship.

If you have the flair to sell items, try businesses such as Avon and Tupperware. People are always buying from these catalogs. You are only required to leave the house to deliver merchandise to your customers when they come in.

These are just a few opportunities for stay-at-home parents. If you want to leave your job and be with your child, do not let it scare you. These jobs are perfect for stay-at-home parents. They will not take up your entire day. In the long-run, your child will appreciate it.
