As we approach summer, mosquitoes and insects will begin to appear. Despite our best efforts, we still may get insect bites, which are generally very itchy and may be uncomfortable. Fortunately, there are plenty of home remedies for insect bites you can use to relieve the itchiness associated with them.

Soap: One of the remedies for insect bites is to rub a bar of soap over the bite. You can either run a dry bar of soap over the bite, wet the bite and run a dry bar of soap over it, or use a wet bar of soap to rub on the bite. This remedy relieves the itch of bug bites almost immediately.

Essential Oils: Essential oils are also a good home remedy for insect bites. You can apply one of the following full-strength essential oils to the insect bit for immediate relief from itching: lavender oil, tea tree oil, cedar oil, or witch hazel astringent. It should be noted that according to Tip Nut, there have been some concerns about using essential oils on bug bites for children and pre-teens.

Fruit: Fruit is another one of the best home remedies for insect bites. You can rub lemon juice, lime juice, a lemon slice, a lime slice, or the inside of a banana peel onto the bite in order to get relief from its itchiness.

Salt: Salt is another remedy for mosquito bites. To use this remedy, wet the insect bite and rub some ordinary table salt onto it. The salt will relieve itching almost immediately.

Toothpaste: Dab some toothpaste onto the itching bug bite to relieve itchiness. According to the Home Remedy Reference Center, peppermint toothpaste works the best for relieving itching.

Aloe: Aloe is a great remedy for mosquito bites. Rub some juice from an aloe plant or a commercial aloe gel onto the bite in order to relieve itchiness and promote healing. You can grow your own aloe plant at home or buy aloe gel over-the-counter at department stores.

Baking Soda and Water Solution: Another one of the greatest remedies for insect bites is to rub a baking soda and water solution on them. Mix one teaspoon of baking soda into a glass of water and use a cloth to rub the solution onto the bite for 15-20 minutes. This remedy also helps to relieve bug bite itchiness.
