Top Five Homemade Halloween Party Favors For Kids
Spider Lollipops
These spooky spider pops are easy and inexpensive to make and your guest are sure to love them.
Materials Needed:
Small Tootsie Pop Lollipops
Black pipe cleaners
Wiggle eyes
Glue gun and glue sticks
Directions:
1. Take four pipe cleaners and hold them together, center them on the lollipop stick and twist to secure in place.
2. Push the pipe cleaners as close to the lollipop as you can get them.
3. Bend the pipe cleaners to resemble spider legs.
4. Hot glue to wiggle eyes in the center of where the pipe cleaners come together.
Ghost Pops
A classic never goes out of style. These cute ghost pops have been around forever and make great favors for Halloween party or to handout to trick or treaters.
Materials Needed:
White tissue paper
Scissors
Black sharpie marker
Orange and black curling ribbon
Directions:
1. Cut an 8 by 8 inch square of white tissue paper.
2. Place the tissue paper over the lollipop.
3. Cut a 6 inch piece of black curling ribbon and a six inch piece of orange curling ribbon.
4. Hold the ribbon together and tie in a bow around the tissue paper just under the lollipop.
5. Use the marker to draw on ghostly facial features.
Witch Hands
These spooky witches hands are filled with popcorn making them a great Halloween party favor for those looking for an alternative to sweet treats.
Materials Needed:
Popped Popcorn
Candy corn
Clear plastic gloves
Black and orange curling ribbon
Scissors
Plastic spider rings
Directions:
1. Cut the orange and black curling ribbon into two 8 inch pieces.
2. Place one candy corn, pint down into each of the fingers and thumb on each plastic glove.
3. Fill each glove with popcorn stopping about a 1 1/2 inches from the edge of the glove.
4. Tie the glove closed with the curling ribbon.
5. Add spider and skull rings by slipping them over each finger.
Tip: Don't use microwave popcorn to fill the gloves as it gets really gummy and tastes awful if not eaten immediately. Instead purchase a bag of already popped popcorn from the grocery store. You can find it in the same section as the potato chips and pretzels.
Frankenstein Monster Treat Cans
These frightening Frankenstein monster treat cans make a great Halloween party favor when filled with small candies and toys.
Materials Needed:
Empty and clean tin cans
Silver pipe cleaners
Black felt
Scissors
Hot glue gun and glue sticks
Large wiggle eyes
Black paint pen or marker
Small corks
Silver spray paint
Green spray paint
Small rocks
Pencil
Directions:
1. Paint each can and the small rocks using green spray paint and allow to dry.
2. Cut each cork in half.
3. Spray paint cork halves silver and allow to dry.
4. Cut a piece of black felt 2 inches wide and long enough to go around the top of the can.
5. Use the scissors to cut jagged points on one side of the felt strip.
6. Hot glue the felt strip with the points pointing downward around the top of the can.
7. Glue a small green rock on the center of the can for Frankenstein's nose.
8. Glue the wiggle eyes directly above the nose.
9. Use the black paint pen to draw on eyebrows, a mouth and scars.
10. Hot glue a silver cork half on either side of the bottom of the can.
11. Wrap a silver pipe cleaner around a pencil and remove to give the pipe cleaner a corkscrew shape.
12. Slightly stretch the pipe cleaner and hot glue each end to the inside edge of the can to make a handle.
13. Fill with small candies and treats.
Mummy Party Favors
These cute mummies are easy and inexpensive to make. Fill them with small candies or toys and handout to your guests at the end of your Halloween party.
Materials Needed:
Empty cardboard tissue tube
White card stock
Scotch tape
Pencil
Scissors
White crepe paper roll
Large wiggle eyes
Small candies
Glue
Directions:
1. Make two circles by tracing around the bottom of the cardboard tube on white card stock.
2. Cut out the two circles.
3. Tape one of the small circles to the bottom of the cardboard tube.
4. Fill the cardboard tube with small candies and treats.
5. Tape the other card stock circle to the open end of the cardboard tube.
6. Start at the bottom of the tube and completely cover the white tube in crepe paper. Use tape to hold it in place.
7. Glue the two wiggle eyes next to each other on the top 1/3 of the tube.
8. Cut a long piece of crepe paper streamer off of the roll and fold it in half.
9. Start at the bottom and begin wrapping the tube with the folded crepe paper streamer, leaving room for the eyes to peep out. Use tape to secure in place.
10. Place in a bowl or hand to your guests as they leave.
Get your kids involved in helping with the party planning by letting them help make the favors for your Halloween party. Most of these Halloween favors can be made by children with just a little adult assistance needed.
