Cell phones-during the 1990's cell phones were limited in use and you could just make voice calls. People were still carrying those annoying pagers or beepers. Fast forward to 2009 and now you can surf the Internet, send text messages, record videos, watch TV, take pictures and store all kinds of files all within your cell phone. Along with the advance in cell phone technology the Bluetooth technology must be mentioned because we all see hundreds of people walking around with that thing in their ears. Most cell phones today such as the Apple iPhone have their own store of applications that people have built for use with the phone. It will be interesting to see where cell phone technology goes in the next ten years.

Nintendo Wii-The Wii has changed the way games are played by requiring people get active by doing the actual motions such as swinging a bat, golf club, tennis racket and all the other sports related games for the Wii. The Wii even has a fitness package that will help eliminate those traditional days of being a couch potato playing those games. The Wii has really advanced the game industry since the days of the Atari with a few limited games. The people at Nintendo became innovative when all the research was coming out on how kids just sat around all day playing games using a remote and were not active. Nintendo leapfrogged ahead of the Sony Playstation and Microsoft Xbox in terms of actual involvement in the games.

Internet-The Internet has experienced significant growth since the 1990's. The days of dialing up via a telephone line and downloading files that usually took hours and hours can be done within seconds and minutes now. Internet connections are delivered cable, t1 lines, satellite and other faster improved technologies. Even the connections via a telephone dial up has improved, but still slow compared to the faster connections on the market today. The 1990's the Internet was limited in terms of functions and availability such as websites and opportunities. Fast forward to 2009 and you can live on a computer literally with tons of social media websites such as Facebook, MySpace, Twitter and others. There's millions and millions of stores that you can shop from. You can even attend college online from nationally known universities. The best part of the Internet is that now people can work online and reach millions and millions of potential customers with minimal overhead compared to traditional business startup. The Internet has really changed the world in which we live.

Cable/Satellite TV-VCR's use to be a hot commodity in the early 1990's with all those bulky tapes and grainy pictures. Now people can record shows via their TV box and you can even rewind shows playing real-time. The VHS tapes are about phased out and have been replaced with DVDs and online media. VCRs are scarce and have been replaced by DVD players along with the technology of TiVo/DVR. Most cable companies today even have what is called Pay per View where you can watch a movie without leaving your house. The industry of cable or satellite TV is still evolving and will be advancing further in the next ten years especially with the competition of the Internet and the delivery of shows and movies.

Cholesterol Medicine-just think how many people in the centuries past that could have possibly lived longer if they had this medicine. The affects of statins are still being developed and discovered, but most pharmaceuticals claim that it helps cut down on heart disease. Lipitor and Crestor are the two major brands in the market, but now a lot of generics have entered the market and provides competition where people can get an affordable drug.
