Capo's Italian Restaurant
Capo's has several locations here in Albuquerque. I've ate at a couple of them and find them to be quite good. I especially enjoy the ambiance at each of them. They each have their own romantic atmosphere, that is quaint and serene. Capo's is not a super fancy restaurant, but gives the impression of a nice Italian hideaway where you can get authentic Italian food. I'm a big fan of their calzones. It's a delicious blend of meats, cheeses and sauces. The price is about average for a plate, which is about $10. This is a nice place to take your date or even eat out with the girls for some drinks on the patio. The Capo's on Fourth Street is extra romantic, while the one downtown is a bit more trendy.
Scarpa's
There are two Scarpas locations in Albuquerque. The one on Montgomery is larger and always busier. The one on Academy is smaller and less busy. They both have great murals on the walls and a nice modern decoration inside, including a large wine rack. My two favorites are the Southwestern salad and the chicken, olives, and sundried tomatoes pizza. Each will run you about $10 and contain very large portions. It is nice to split a pizza and a salad with a friend. The desserts are also very delicious and will run you around $4. Don't miss out on their delicious fruit-flavored iced tea either. The staff is friendly and the lunch specials are a good deal. Every year they have coupons in the Entertainment Book, so try there for a local deal.
Venezia's Pizzeria
Venezia's pizza is so delicious that I highly recommend trying at least once. You are served a very large slice of pizza that can have toppings of your choice on it. Some of my favorites are pepperoni, spinach and tomato. They have a wonderful meal of one pizza slice, a delicious garden salad and a very large drink for around $7. It is worth every penny because of how good everything is, including their iced tea. Venezia's is a casual restaurant and there are always places to sit. However, they can take awhile to make your slice, so it might be a good idea to call in ahead of time. They also sell pizza by the box, sandwiches and pasta. There are several locations to choose from. If you are trying to save some money, find them on restaurant.com and print up a $10 off $20 purchase there.
