Metropolitan South Florida has numerous locales from which to view 4th of July fireworks, but undeniably the best place to see them is in Deerfield Beach. This town of approximately 65,000 sits 12 miles north of Fort Lauderdale and five miles south of Boca Raton. Almost all of the residents of Northern Broward County gather on the beach every 4th of July to watch the spectacle from the sand or from the sea.

The price? Free. The environment is family friendly and the three mile long beach becomes crowded with people on their beach towels eating barbecue. During the day, there is a live concert (which country star Lee Greenwood will be performing at this year), food, and games. The empty spaces on the beach fill up quickly and people are there early to claim a good spot.

If you are more of a sea dweller, you will prefer to watch the spectacle from your boat or yacht anchored out beyond the Deerfield Beach pier. Here you have the comfort of your own open space and a better view as the fireworks appear almost directly overhead. There are lifeguards surrounding the perimeter in which the fireworks residue falls to make sure no one on the boats gets harmed.

You are probably asking yourself now, why Deerfield Beach out of all the other places in South Florida? Well, if you have ever seen fireworks explode out on the open ocean, you would answer your own questions. At 9pm the fireworks begin with each explosion lighting up the beach. From willow trees to happy faces to stars, a broad spectrum of unique, multicolored fireworks are showcased on 4th of July. The grand finale firework comes down on the ocean and simulates the rising of the sun on the eastern coast. The whole beach and ocean lights up for one last time and stays lit for approximately a good 7 seconds. Breathtaking.

There is another catch to why this is the best place to view fireworks in South Florida. Not only do you see the live fireworks before you on Deerfield Beach, but if you glance to the left you see Boca Raton's spectacle of lights and if you turn to your right you see Fort Lauderdale's fireworks and beyond that, Hallandale Beach's. So in a nutshell, there literally is not one second when there is not a firework in the sky, nor a long pause as the eruptions are omnipresent. If you face west away from the beach you can also see the fireworks from Coconut Creek and distant Coral Springs.

4th of July is best absorbed and appreciated when you are surrounded by it and there is not better place to do that than right on the beach in Deerfield Beach, Florida.
