Best July 4th Fireworks Over Myrtle Beach

Ken Cleaver
Resort towns, such as Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, can be renown for their holiday celebrations. Areas that are tourist-reliant go through every effort to draw in the masses on lots of bank holidays. Celebrations are always abound. Fireworks light up the skies. Night turns to day as people enjoy themselves in the evening. This July 4th will be no different for South Carolina's finest beach.

Beaches have always been a vacation favorite for families. It can be near impossible to run out of things to do without the added holiday celebrations. Fortunately you're about to see a great list that'll give you the heads up on the competition this fourth of July. Whether you're a couple seeking romantic intimacy or a family of six after adventure there are events for everyone besides just the great beach.

FIREWORKS

Amazingly this year the fourth of July is on a Friday. Doesn't that sound perfect for a night of explosions? Realistically there are two options: 16th Annual July 4th Fireworks Display or the various shows by Broadway at the Beach. Myrtle Beach Chamber of Commerce holds the annual fireworks show on July 4th with free admission; this year the show will start at 9:30 P.M. and is scheduled to run until 10:30 P.M. More information, including a contact phone number and location, can be found online at http://www.nmbevents.com/. Broadway at the Beach is a bit harder to pin down as they do a variety of events for the entire summer. Fortunately they too can be found online at http://www.broadwayatthebeach.com/.

SHOWS

The Carolina Opry does musical shows throughout most of the year. July 4th they have scheduled Good Vibrations for an 8:00 P.M. showing. Good Vibrations can best be described as a trip to the past: 1960s, 1970s, and 1980s. A vast array of colors will illuminate the stage while the retro clothing and dance will promise to keep the kids entertainment. Perhaps the parents will get to relive their wilder years? Prices vary depending what tier you buy into with the lowest being $34.95 for adults, $23.00 for students, and $17.00 for youths aged 3-16. Please be advised that the show is likely to sell out so don't wait till the last minute to buy your tickets. Please call (843)-913-4000 to purchase tickets, but it seems there's a discount to purchasing online. Carolina Opry's website: http://www.thecarolinaopry.com/.

Another option, if the hippy theme doesn't appeal to your family, is Le Grande Cirque at the Palace Theatre. Comedy wise this show wins out over Good Vibrations. Prices here range $35-$45 for adults and $10 for children between 3 and 12 for the 8:00 P.M. spectacle. Moreover, they have shows at 10:00 A.M. and 2:00 P.M. for reduces prices of $30 on adults although there is no price cut for children. Taxes included! Booking and other information is available on their website. http://www.palacetheatremyrtlebeach.com/

PARADE

Each year Murrells Inlet hosts the annual 4th of July boat parade. This year-the 25th celebration of the event-will begin at 10:00 A.M. If you choose to stay all day it'll be followed by fireworks at 10:00 P.M. There's no cost involved and this is a great opportunity to show your children their first boat parade! You can call 843-651-5675 for more information or find them online at http://www.murrellsinletsc.com/.

PIER FESTIVAL

Cherry Grove Pier started hosting a festival in the past few years. Usually they have an assortment of different activities going on. These can include: superb food, live entertainment, games carts, and fireworks. Unfortunately there aren't a lot of details available for this year's festivities. I recommend calling 843-249-1625 nearer July 4th for more exact details on what they'll be hosting this year.

Of course there is always going to be more to find out there along the coast. Exploration shall be your friend. Whatever route you choose to do you had better not forget to celebrate with fireworks over the ocean on July 4th!
