According to IMDB, the most popular kids movie in 2008 was the Disney/Pixar hit, "Wall-E". During this timeless treasure, a waste-removal robot, Wall-E has been left on the Earth by himself to clean up the mess that people have left behind. Wall-E can keep anyone interested, keeping kids busy with the cute characters and adults with a touching love story and heroism of the adorable Wall-E.
The next popular family movie was "Kung Fu Panda". In this touching movie, Po the Panda works in his families noodle shop, but is chosen to protect his town by learning the art of Kung Fu. He is criticized by everyone, who does not believe he will be able to be great and save their town. Po gives all of his effort and learns to over-come his weaknesses.
Disney has done it again with "High School Musical 3: Senior Year". This movie follows Troy and Gabriella during their senior year as they struggle with the idea of being apart. The movie is accompanied by a number of songs and dance routines, keeping young girls and tweens infatuated with the series.
The most popular movie in our house right now is the newly released "Madagascar 2: Escape 2 Africa'. This is the sequel to 2005's Madagascar, following the animals as they attempt to leave Madagascar and return to their families in Africa. The animals have their overly-active personalities and the cute dances and songs that keep kids intrigued with the movie. The kids in my household, from two to eight all love the movie and want to see it over and over.
Finishing out my list of the top kids movies in 2008 is the new Disney movie, "Bolt". This touching movie follows an American Husky who is on an action TV show, but does not realize that it is television and believes he does have super powers that allow him to do extraordinary things. He is accidentally shipped from Hollywood to New York City, where he must find his way home.
There were a number of other movies released in 2008 that were top on my kids lists, including "Horton Hears a Who" and "Star Wars: The Clone Wars". Overall it was a great year for kids movies and there are many out there to sit down and watch as a family.
