Lake Erie in Ohio is an amazing lake from all viewpoints. There is everything and anything to do here, from fishing to camping to playing on the beach. But if you are into birds, than Erie has some hot bird-watching spots for you!

Castalia Duck Pond

This duck pond has waterfowl all year long. However, it has become well-known that late fall to early spring is the best time for sightings. Waterfowl tend to migrate to this spring-fed 12 acre-pond at that time. The duck pond stays free of ice because of the milder temperatures. Castalia Duck Pond is located on Route 269 in the town of Castalia.

East Harbor State Park

Come here to play at one of the most popular state parks in all of Ohio. East Harbor is an amazing 1,152 acres, and is a great place for waterfront activities. The park is on a natural harbor, sitting on a Lake Erie peninsula. The Middle Harbor Trail has a bird observatory blind and observation deck.on the east side of the offshore islands, waterfowl hunting is offered. East harbor State Park is located at 1169 North buck Road in the town of Marblehead. Their website is east.harbor.parks@dnr.state.oh.us .

West creek Preserve

West Creek used to be known as Skinner Creek, and is a grand part of the Cuyahoga River. Near the West creek headwaters, the creek starts from a gorge that drops 120 feet. West Creek Preserve can be found at W. Ridgewood Road in the town of Parma. Its a great place to spot many varieties of birds and waterfowl.

Magee Marsh Wildlife Area

Everyone who loves birdwatching comes to Magee Marsh Wildlife area for their activity. They are almost always ranked amongst the top Ten birding "hot spots" in all of the United States. Magee Marsh is over 2, 000 acres and brings in more than 300 bird species at all times.There is a .6-mile Magee Marsh Bird Trail that travels through over seven acres of forests, beach ridges and marshland. While you're in Oak Harbor, stop by at 13229 W. Route 2.

The Holden Arboretum

With over 3,400 acres, The Holden Arboretum maintains its focus on horticultural research, public gardens, and conservations. In 1931 the first trees were planted, and today the arboretum boast a huge amount of plants, over 11,000 different types. They are also carefully mapped in their computer system to ensure proper handling. The Holden Arboretum is located at 9500 Sperry Road in the town of Kirtland, Ohio.
