Best Local Venues for a Children's Summer Party

More than the ending of a school year excites the children of Detroit. Summer brings along more time to play! Here's a guide to the top three places local children visit to beat the summer's heat:

There are several places that the general population of Detroit attend yearly, like the festivals held at Hart Plaza. But I want to get more local, and list venues that the children in my neighborhood and family visit during the summer months.

The first place any of the children in our family shout when asked where they want to go is, " Jungle Java!" Jungle Java is a local venue that offer a family-friendly environment, allowing the parents to enjoy treats from a deli-style cafe and the children a play gym. We have a lot of family on the eastside of Detroit, and a good meeting place for eastsider's would be the Chandler Park Family Aquatic Center. Now, if you are looking for fun with water, the water park at Chandler Park is the closest place. But there is also a water park at Belle Isle, which is another favorite of Detroiters. Located in the heart of Chandler Park on Detroit's eastside, the water park has two slides and a water-play area for the little ones. Also on-site, refreshments and gifts. But, I must warn you, the water park gets crowded very fast; being a great local place for children to cool off, the summers find this park filled as early as 12 noon on some days. This goes for saying if you plan to have a child's birthday party at the park as well. A great idea for having a child's party at the park, is to set the party food and favors up around a picnic area.

And last, but definitely not least, a new hype has arrived with children having birthday parties at bowling lanes. Several bowling lanes help with birthday parties, and offer reasonable packages for the honoree and guests. A favorite among the bowlers would be Regal Lanes on the northeast side of Detroit. Regal Lanes have coupons, and other discounts to assist the visitors and bowlers.
