If you're like me and just about every other working American times have gotten harder money wise. You're away from home most of the day and unable to get a nice free, minus the price of groceries, home cooked meal. Even if you were lucky enough to get such a meal you most likely do not have the time to sit and enjoy it in between jobs or break periods. This leaves you with two options: either shell out dough for some fast food or starve. For most of us, myself included the later is not an option. It's easy to find good food fast at a value when you're either in great shape or do not care at all about your weight. What about those of us who are fighting the battle of the growing belly and shrinking wallet? This may serve as a guide or starting point to finding the best low carb fast food for the lowest prices.

There a some key factors to remember when looking for the best low carb fast food choices. Instead of focusing on what you can't eat, focus on what you can eat. Moderation is the best policy for the most desired effect of the low carb diet. Don't bog yourself down thinking about how can you possibly find enough variety in food choices so that you won't cheat. Its much better to think one meal at a time. Something that I myself found to help the most is to give yourself one or two days a week to eat what ever you want as much as you want. These little pointers will help you stay on the right track when choosing the best low carb fast food for your wallet.

Let's start at the bottom floor of the fast food pricing scheme the Value Menus. If you play your cards right you may have to look no further than right here. Remember meat and veggies are pretty much the staple in the low carb lifestyle so if you zero in on these ingredients you can't go wrong. Some restaurants are becoming more health conscience and have added salads to their value menu like Wendy's. If you need a little more meat to fill you up tacos and burritos at Del Taco and Taco Bell minus the shell/tortilla, rice, beans, and melted cheese are good buys as well as some of the best low carb fast food choices. Some restaurants will serve these items to you without the shell or tortilla if you ask for it that way. It may seem a little weird at first but is much harder to cheat if don't have a shell or tortilla to throw away when you're done forking out the insides. All of these choices are about .99 cents each depending on which state you live in.

If its a burger you crave, it can start to get a little more expensive than just .99 cents. Ordering a burger without the bun pretty much kills all the carbs involved. You can take it a step further by asking for no sauce or light sauce since nine times out of ten the sauce on a burger is very fattening and heaped on. Mustard is the best substitute in these cases while cheese is debatable diet wise but you'll spend less if you skip it. Staying on track with the best low carb fast food choices for the best value in my opinion you can't go wrong at Carl's Jr. Any of their burgers can be ordered wrapped in lettuce or "Lettuce Wrapped" with no hassle at the counter. Further more their value menu burgers, either the Big Burger or Famous Stars are normally available for around 99 cents and are bigger in size than that of McDonalds, Burger King, and Wendy's.

When it comes to sandwiches you can pretty much apply the same principles as burgers. It might make more sense to turn the sandwich order into a meaty salad which can get expensive. Grilled chicken items follows the same suit. You'll get a better bang for your buck at El Pollo Loco who now happens to have a value meal also. Other considerations are diet and light drinks which are all devoid of carbs and very low or no sugar. My personal usuals are Diet Coke/Pepsi and Minute Maid Light available in fruit punch or lemonade. Overall, if you look at what the ingredients are of the lowest priced items on any menu are and you're left with enough low carb items to make it worthwhile then go for it!
