When individuals look for low-fat recipes in magazines, they look for a few requirements that will determine whether or not they will try the recipes for their families. These standards include taste, quality, variety and readability of the recipes. A few magazines follow these standards when the present recipe.

Prevention magazine is one of the best magazines to look at when searching for low-fat recipes. Most of their recipes include ingredients that can be purchased at any local store. They also contain natural ingredients, and their desserts rarely use artificial sweeteners. The guidelines are easy to follow, and they often have recipes that require little or no cooking.

Shape magazine follows many of the same guidelines as Prevention magazine. However, in addition to simple recipes, they also offer recipes for individuals who want to experiment in the kitchen. Their instructions are easy to follow; though, they sometimes include ingredients that may not be readily available.

Fitness magazine offers low-fat recipes in every issue, as well. They vary from simple, no cook recipes to recipes that require stovetop or oven cooking. They are well-rounded recipes that include all the basic food groups, the instructions are easy to follow, and the food tastes good.

Vegetarian Times also offers low-fat recipes to its readers. They list recipes that vary from appetizers to main courses. The recipes are inclusive of all kinds of non-meat eaters, from vegetarian to vegan. They have desserts as well. Although the instructions are easy to read, some of the ingredients may be a little pricy for some people. A word of caution: Not all of the recipes in the magazine are low fat.

Weight Watchers magazine, of course, has low-fat recipes. Most of their recipes are just variations of everyday foods. The only problem with their recipes is that Weight Watchers uses a unique points system. If a person is not familiar with this system, they may be frustrated with it.

Eating Well magazine treats low-fat eating as an art form. Low-fat recipes are presented as gourmet meals to consumers. The magazine presents recipe makeovers as well as original dishes that subscribers can try. They use natural ingredients in their recipes, and the recipes are easy to read.

Energy Times is a free magazine that can be picked up at a number of natural food stores around the country. Every month, they present a recipe, sometimes even a makeover of a favorite. Their recipes are easy enough for even novice cooks to follow.

Cooking Light magazine, as the name suggests, presents low-fat recipes in every issue. The recipes range from the easy to prepare to the time consuming. An admirable aspect of the magazine is that it even has recipes for ice cream. Readers can chose whether or not they want something simple or something more challenging.

Food and Wine magazine is not necessarily a magazine for dieter. It is, however, a magazine for food lovers. The recipes mainly cater to more refined foodies. The magazine does, though, have low-fat recipes. Except for some of the soup and gravy, most of the recipes will take a little more time.

Fine Cooking, like the aforementioned magazine, does not cater particularly to low-fat diets. Yet, it does have tasty low-fat recipes in its issues. The recipes are not as accessible to people who don't like cooking or new to cooking. Most of the recipes are for advanced cooks.

A quality that each magazine listed above is that consumers can go to their websites and download recipes, even if they don't subscribe to the magazine. By downloading the recipes, people can test the quality of the foods for themselves to see if they complement their particular taste buds.
