Sheer foundation. I prefer a tinted moisturizer with SPF for summer dates. The heat, the sun, and oilier than normal skin can make heavy foundation look cakey and fake. Powder can build up and look muddy when it mixes with sweat in the sun. A tinted moisturizer will give you just enough coverage to even out your skin tone a bit, without hiding the real you. Bonus, the SPF protects you from regular sun exposure. Because the coverage is very sheer, the color is easier to match to your skin tone. When in doubt, go a shade darker and blend well, especially around your hairline and jawline.
Bronze shadow. If you only use one color of eye shadow, use bronze. Sweep it on your eye lid from your lashes to the crease, and sparingly dab a little under your lower lash line as well. A light shimmery pearl color looks great when lightly applied below your brow bones and in the inner corners of your eyes. It helps brighten, widen, and draw attention to your beautiful eyes.
Bronze liner. The purpose of your liner is to define your eyes. Avoid the raccoon look by staying away from black and dark brown. Instead, draw a thin line of bronze liner at the base of your top lashes, extending the line in an upward direction just slightly past the outside corners of your eyes. Make the line thin near the inner corner of your, a little thicker in the middle of your eye, and thin again towards the outside corner. This will make your eyes look big and beautiful. Use a waterproof formula whenever possible.
Waterproof mascara. Mascara opens up your eyes, so complete your summer smouldering eye with two coats of waterproof mascara in black. As you apply the mascara, press the wand into the base of your lashes for a second or two, and gentle pull up while rolling the wand towards your eye lid. This will help curl your lashes as you apply the mascara, eliminating the need for a separate eye lash curler.
Bronzer. Lightly sweep bronzer wherever you need it: on your cheeks, for a flushed look. Sweep it down the sides of your nose to make a large nose look thinner. Blend a bit underneath your cheek bones for a thinning effect. You can even dust a little between your decolletage to put a little more buxom in your bosom.
Lipstain. A soft lipstain will last well into the night, as opposed to a lipstick or gloss which will come off with any drink, snack, or smooch. Go for a soft rose, peach, or the spicy summer trend, coral.
