Best Mario Games of All Time

Video games are very popular and one of the most popular video game characters of all time is Mario. In fact you could even say that after the video game crash in the 1980s, that Mario saved video games from being lost to history. So with that in mind we will be looking at the best Mario games of all time.

Super Mario Brothers

While this may not be such a great game to play and is one of the simplest of all Mario games it is on this list for one reason. This game helped to save the video game industry. At the time it was a great game and even the best game ever made. Soon that would change and better games would come but when it was first released this game was able to get people interested in video games again and is one of the top selling games of all time thanks to being packaged with the original NES system.

Super Mario RPG

For some reason the Mario+RPG formula has never been used again after the first attempt. Mario RPG was not only a hit with reviewers it was also a hit with the general public. This game is considered by some to be one of the best RPG's of all time. While saying it is one of the best RPG's of all time may be a little to much it was an important one since its use of Mario introduced new players to the world of the RPG.

Super Mario Kart

I am not a racing game fan. There are a few racing games such as Road Rash though I do like. Super Mario Kart though is a game that was loved by many people including those like myself who never played racing games. This game would spawn many more sequels to prove that Mario and racing make for a good combination.

Super Smash Brothers

Super Smash Brothers is still a unique game. You can call it a fighter but it is unlike any other fighter. Oddly no one has tried to copy this game except for the sequels. While Mario may only play a small role in this game there are far more Mario related characters then any other franchise to choose from and you can even include Donkey Kong as part of the Mario franchise adding even more Mario options.

Super Mario Brothers 3

Was there any question that this game would be on this list? Many people consider Mario 3 to not only be the best game on the NES but it is often considered the best video game ever by many people. Many people consider this game the most perfect video game ever. One thing people loved about this game were the secrets which you needed either Nintendo Power or a friend with Nintendo Power to find. The first time this game was released it was hard to find because it was always sold out my father must have spent weeks trying to find a copy for us. Who can forget the first time they saw this game in the movie The Wizard? No game has ever been as big as this game was.

While many people will think this list is missing some of the best Mario games at least we can agree that many of these games do belong on the list. With so many Mario games it would be impossible to make a list that makes everyone happy.
