Forney, TX 75126
United States of America
One of the first things I did when I moved to Forney, Texas was to search out good restaurants, especially Mexican food because it is my favorite. Las Trojas was the first restaurant in town where I stopped to eat . That was 3 1/2 years ago, and I still eat there once or twice a month despite the protest of my waist line. In fact, I ordered food to go at Las Trojas today, and I was as usual, very satisfied with my meal.
There are 3 really good things about Las Trojas Mexican restaurant:
* The food is delicious.
*The prices are very reasonable.
*The service staff are very friendly, and really aim to please the customer.
On Wednesday's they have an enchilada dinner special that gives you 2 enchilada's, beans and rice for less than $5. They also have daily lunch specials for under $5. An example of some of the regular tasty items on their menu and how much they cost are:
*Beef Nachos for $6.95
*Combination plates of cheese enchilada and beef enchilada with 1 crispy taco, beans and rice for $7.95
*Beef or chicken fajitas dinner for only $7.95
*2 chicken flautas with beans and rice for $7.95
*Carne asada-charco broiled rib eye steak topped with grilled onions for $10.95
There is much more on their menu, and prior to receiving your main dish, your server brings each person at the table a small bowl of their bean soup. I love the soup so much that sometimes I simply order a big bowl of it as my meal. Also, they serve home made tortilla chips and home made salsa, nothing out of sacks or jars. The staff is small but very knowledgeable about the food. You can always expect a smile and a warm welcome, which seems to be lacking in other restaurants these days. The kitchen and the waiting staff get you your food fairly quickly, even on nights when they are busy.
Las Trojas, like all the other restaurants in Forney at this time, has a smoking and non-smoking section. They do put the smokers in another room towards the rear of the restaurant, but as most people know, smoke travels. The other thing you should know is that Las Trojas does not have a liquor license to sell alcohol on the premises. When they first opened, there were no liquor licenses allowed in Forney. Now that they are allowed for restaurants, it seems the license is fairly expensive. They have chosen not to sell alcohol at the restaurant, however, you can actually bring your own beer with you, and drink it with your meal. That probably seems strange to anyone not living in Texas, but to Texans, they understand the crazy alcohol laws out here.
If you are looking for some excellent Mexican food in a cozy restaurant with great prices and a friendly staff, Las Trojas Mexican restaurant in Forney, Texas should be your next stop. Their phone number is 972-564-1008.

I love, love, love Mexican food! Great recommendation.
I love Taco Bell, but as someone told me, Taco Bell is the Americanized version of Mexican food. I'd love to go eat here in Forney, Texas. Another great article, Sherri!
Terrific review, handy recommendation :) Sheri
I can't imagine a Mexican restaurant that doesn't serve alcohol! That's wild! Great review, Sherri. :)
Hi, my name is Radell and I'm an addict...for Mexican food. LOL I have eaten Mexican twice already this week and it's just Wednesday!!!!
The Mexican food here in Texas is pretty good, the Mexican food in California, is great.:-)
I bet the Mexican Food in Texas in TO DIE FOR! We don't get any real authentic Mexican food around here.
I love Mexican food, but we are terribly limited to any "good" Mexican food around here. When we went to California to visit friends last year, they took us to a little place they visit often...we were so hooked we ate there like 6 times before we left!
This type of article needs to come out later in the day, it's 7:43 am and now I am craving Mexican Food! Thanks Sherri! HA!
