Best Movie to Watch for Valentine’s Day: ‘(500) Days of Summer’

Rianne Hill Soriano

"(500) Days of Summer" tops my list of the best movies to watch on Valentine's Day. This offbeat romantic comedy features a love story about a woman who doesn't believe in true love and a man who believes she is his soul mate. It is a clever, confident, and refreshingly honest film with an elusive appeal, which makes it really shine from the roster of movies presented in this often clichéd genre.

At the same time, its charm and flair don't dumb down its story with how it shows the biting realities of what comes and goes in any romantic relationship. Full of energy and emotional intellect, it allows couples to make sense of the real world by wielding its own rhetorical whimsy to its storytelling. This rare cinematic treat makes the journey of love worth trying, regardless of the consequences.

Seems more like an anti-Valentine's Day movie to me.
