Best Movie-Based Video Games

Shy Guy
Usually, the terms "movie-based video games" and "trash" are synonymous. This is for good reason, too - for the most part, games based on movies suck. Just think back to the days of Nintendo: Friday the 13th, Back to the Future, Raiders of the Lost Ark, etc. It's no doubt that most of the time when you think of these games, you will think of how bad they are. There are, however, some exceptions. Here is a rough top ten list that I made:

10. Tron 2.0
9. Aladdin
8. The Lion King
7. The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King
6. The Warriors
5. Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic
4. Peter Jackson's King Kong
3. Spider-Man 2
2. The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape From Butcher Bay
1. Goldeneye 007

Obviously, most of this list is pretty debatable. The exception to that is #1. Goldeneye is not only considered the best movie video game of all time, it is widely considered one of the best video games of all time period. It is recognized as one of the most influential FPS games to date, bringing the genre to consoles in ways that other games had never done before. I would keep explaining, but I don't think anyone will disagree with me on that.

The only other game that I feel strongly about on this list is No.2. This may not have been one of the best video games of all time, but aside from Goldeneye there is no movie-based game out that can even compete with it.

  • Goldeneye is actually not that good3/24/2010

The only reason it is on so many -console- lists is that there were no good FPS on consoles when it came out. It doesn't even remotely compare to the Quake games or Unreal which came out at roughly the same time. I remember being bored to tears with GE after cutting my teeth on Quake.
