Best Movies of 2010: Top 5 Classic Movie and TV Show Remakes
2010's Best Movie Re-makes of Classic Shows and Movies
5. Nightmare on Elm Street - Let's see, there was Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Friday the 13th and Halloween. You had to know it was only a matter of time before Freddy returned to the screen in a re-make of the classic horror film and that time will come on April 30th. Director Samuel Bayer follows in Rob Zombie's footsteps in going from the music business to making horror movies. Will you be scared to go to sleep again?
4. Three Stooges - The Farrelly Brothers bring back a true classic and breathe new life into it at the box office. There are still reports that Curly is going to be played by Jim Carrey, but nothing is concrete yet. Whether your favorite stooge is Larry, Curly or Moe; you are sure to have a good time watching some old school comedy with this movie.
3. Robin Hood - You begin to wonder how many times they can remake one classic tale. I have recently realized though that Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves has not aged well and if done right, a new spin of this tale could still be a delightful treat. Now, I am anxiously waiting for the new movie's release on May 14th. Hopefully Russell Crowe will stun us with his portrayal of Robin Hood, and give a Gladiator-type performance.
2. A-Team - The re-makes of mid 1980's movies and shows continues with A-Team. Instead of being Vietnam veterans, the sharp minds in Hollywood decided to turn the characters into Iraqi War Vets. Let's hope this is better than GI Joe, which had a ton of hype, but got nowhere near living up to it. The cast is headed up by Bradley Cooper, Liam Neeson, Jessica Biel and UFC star Quinton 'Rampage' Jackson, who takes up the role that the infamous Mr. T. used to play.
1. Alice in Wonderland - Is their any other director's hands that we would rather see this classic tale be in? Burton has wowed audiences with his creative and eccentric delights in The Nightmare Before Christmas, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Edward Scissorhands, Beetle Juice(Beetlejuice) and a host of others. This time, he takes on the re-vamping of one of Disney's most treasured classics. Adding to the great buzz is that Burton is teaming back up with Johnny Depp, who will play the Mad Hatter.
