The best movies about witches for Halloween are scary, funny, and star some of the finest actresses of all time. These are 10 of the best witch movies for your Halloween film viewing.

Wizard of Oz (1939): The Wicked Witch of the West (Margaret Hamilton) terrorizes Judy Garland and friends in one of the most famous witch movies of all time in this Halloween film that's good for any family night.

I Married A Witch (1942): Long before Bewitched, a sorceress (Veronica Lake) marries a mortal and shows off her hex appeal in this light but amusing comedy for fans of the actress with the peek-a-boo hair.

Bell, Book and Candle (1958): Kim Novak is a sexy witch with her heart set on her enemy's fiancé (Jimmy Stewart). It's no Vertigo but they're still a cute couple in this witch movie.

Bedknobs and Broomsticks (1971): An apprentice witch (Angela Lansbury) tends to 3 children and the defense of Britain. This best Halloween movie about witches is suitable for most small children.

The Crucible (1996): This adaptation of the Arthur Miller play takes a serious look at the Salem witch trials with great performances by Winona Ryder and Daniel Day-Lewis.

The Witches of Eastwick (1987): Share Halloween with 3 beautiful witches (Cher, Susan Sarandon, Michelle Pfeiffer) and one lucky devil (Jack Nicholson) in a very funny adaption of the John Updike novel.

The Witches (1990): This best Halloween film about witches is wholesome enough for kids and smart enough for adults. A little boy gets turned into a mouse but still battles a convention of witches including Anjelica Huston.

Stardust (2007): The pieces are better than the whole in this star-studded but confusing fantasy with 3 sorceresses led by Michelle Pfeiffer plus Claire Danes, Robert De Niro, Peter O'Toole, and Ian McKellen. Still, this witch movie does have some good moments.

The Blair Witch Project (1999): It's been so influential on low budget filmmaking and marketing. Plus it's actually scary. Three student filmmakers disappear in the woods leaving their footage behind in this fake documentary.

Into The Woods (1994): It's my least favorite Steven Sondheim musical but it's still Sondheim. This collection of fractured fairy tales has witches including Bernadette Peters along with its best known song Children Will Listen.

These best Halloween movies about witches feature some great actresses. There are lots of scares and laughs in these witch movies for viewers of all ages.
