Best NBA Forwards to Invest in for Card Collectors August 2008 Edition

For many NBA basketball sports card collectors, the Summer off season represents a good opportunity for bargains and prospecting. The NBA playoffs are a distant memory to many and many are too concentrated on the incoming draft class to remember 2nd and 3rd year veterans that are ready to break out. This guide will highlight 5 forwards that could become great investments for the wise collectors! Don't miss out! A guide for centers and guards will come in the upcoming weeks.

Adam Morrison (Charlotte Bobcats F): Morrison, next to JJ Redick, was one of the top prospects in the 06-07 draft class. Up until now, Morrison's career has been plagued by injuries and disappointment; that said, Morrison is finally healthy and will be ready for the 08-09 season. Many players become true break-out stars on their 3rd season (think Chris Paul), and this will be Morrison's third season. Michael Jordan still believes in Morrison's ability and will give Morrison a role in the Bobcat's rotation. In short, Morrison has all the right tools to become a star in this league and this year needs to be his year. Right now, Morrison's card prices are still very low and an autograph rc card can be had on eBay for less than $10. If he works out, this will be one of the greatest investments of this year.

Paul Milsap (Utah Jazz F): As noted earlier, players tend to break out their third year. While many have long forgotten about this, Paul Milsap's play in the playoffs as a back-up was solid. As of right now, Milsap will still be coming off the bench behind Carlos Boozer. If given the opportunity, Milsap will definitely shine and can be a consistent 15-10 kind of guy. The time to invest should be now as Milsap's rookie and autograph cards are still very affordable at around $10. Milsap have great potential and will turn out to be a sound investment especially if Utah makes it deep into the playoffs in 2009.

Brandon Bass (Dallas Mavericks F): Continuing with promising forwards, this young defensive stud in Dallas should definitely on the list. This unknown name has been a defensive force for Dallas and has also shown his offensive capabilities during the playoffs in Dallas. Bass has improved on all his statistical categories last year. Dallas are not too deep at forward right now and Bass will have a great opportunity to showcase his skills playing with Jason Kidd next year. His key rookie cards can be had for around $5 right now which is a fanastic bargain.

Wilson Chandler (New York Knicks F): The 07-08 draft class was so talented that this prospect was neglected. He has shown flashes of brilliance in his rookie season with the Knicks. Rumors has it that Zach Randolph is on his way out of New York and the PF position will be wide open for Will C. to take. Playing in Mike D'antoni's wide open system will definitely help Chandler's stats. A large market like New York will give Chandler an opportunity to become a household name should he make the most of his playing time. Right now all of Chandler's key rookies are at rock bottom prices; even his Exquisite cards are less than $20. A great investment with incredible potential returns.

Al Thornton (L.A. Clippers F): Al Thornton had a tremendous rookie season and is no longer a well kept secret. His card prices have been steadily increasing due to his great performance. Now that Elton Brand and Corey Maggette have been traded away, Thornton will inherit the bulk of the playing time at forward. the attention that Baron Davis garners will also provide Thornton more space to operate on the court. The planets are aligned for Thornton to breakout as a bona fide superstar and the next great power foward in the NBA. Thornton's card prices will skyrocket when the season starts, so the time to buy is now. His card prices can be over inflated at times, but great deals are still available if the collector looks hard enough!

Other great forwards to invest in: Hakim Warrick, Trevor Ariza, Charlie Villanueva, Matt Barnes, Thaddeus Young

The guides for the best guards and centers for basketball card collectors to invest in will be available soon. Until next time, collected well and prosper!
