Best NBA Players Whose Last Names Start with G

The letter G represents a key position on any basketball team, that of guard. Some of the best players in the game have been Gs whose names start with Gs.

Some other players with G names have excelled as forwards and centers, and some have even been inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame.

Here is a list of the ideal team consisting of players whose last names start with the letter G. based on stats from basketball-reference.com.

First Team:

Center - Artis Gilmore: He averaged 19 points and 12 rebounds for the ABA's Colonels and the NBA's Bulls during the 70s and 80s.

Forward - Kevin Garnett: While reaching the '10 championship series as a Celtic, Garnett has averaged 20 points and 10 rebounds per game, mostly with the Wolves.

Forward - George Gervin: The Hall of Famer averaged 27 points per game during his career, mostly with the Spurs. He averaged 22 as a rookie with the Squires, and he averaged 23 as a Bull in his last season.

Guard - Gail Goodrich: the Hall of Famer averaged 19 points and 5 assists per game in the 60s and 70s, mostly with the Lakers.

Guard - Hal Greer: The Hall of Famer averaged 19 points, 5 rebounds, and 4 assists for the Sixers from '58 to '73.

Second Team:

Center - Harry Gallatin: The Hall of Famer averaged 13 points and 11 rebounds per game for the Knicks from '48-'58.

Forward - Armand Gilliam: While playing for six different teams, "The Hammer" averaged 14 points and 7 rebounds per game.

Forward - Pau Gasol: A member of the 2010 Championship Lakers team, Gasol has averaged 18 points and 9 rebounds per game with Los Angeles as well as Minnesota.

Guard - Darrell Griffith: After winning an NCAA championship as a Louisville Cardinal, Griffith went on to average 16 points per game in an NBA career spent with Utah.

Guard - Richie Guerin: Mostly as a member of the Knicks, Guerin averaged 17 points, 5 rebounds, and five assists per game from '57-'70.
