There are many diverse neighborhoods in Brooklyn New York. One they all have in common is the fact that they all have a lot of history. They all have historic districts with beautiful brownstone and row houses, some dating back to the 18th century and before. Brooklyn Heights.

Brooklyn Heights was the first ever suburb of New York City. When Manhattan began to get crowded in the 1700's Brooklyn Heights was the place they came too. It is so close to downtown Manhattan, it was an easy ferry ride to work. One thing you will notice about Brooklyn Heights is that there are very few if any high rise buildings. The area is a National Historical Landmark and cannot be changed, so Brooklyn Heights will retain its small home town atmosphere. It is still an easy trip to Manhattan, there are a great many subway lines with stops here. Practically every building has a history, its own story to tell. Brooklyn Heights is near the great shopping area of Downtown Brooklyn. If you live in Brooklyn Heights today, you will be in an historic brownstone or row house. A studio condo will start at about $300,000, A town house will go for anywhere from $4,000,000 to $8,000,000.

Coney Island

Coney Island is much more than a tourist attraction, it is a great place to live. It is like living in a resort year round. Of course the beach and amusement parks are only open during the summer months, but the Coney Island Aquarium is open year round and its close proximity to Ocean Parkway, one of the main roads in Brooklyn, and the Belt Parkway, which goes right through Coney Island, makes it easy to get to any part of the borough. A three bedroom house in Coney Island can run from $350,000 TO $650,000. a one bedroom apartment will go for about $1,000, a two bedroom for about $1,200 to $1,400.

Greenpoint

There are major changes happening to Greenpoint that will make it one of the most desirable neighborhoods anywhere. For centuries, the waterfront section of Greenpoint was an industrial area. Now plans are in effect to transform it into living space with parks and walks along the water. This has been done in many other neighborhoods in New York with much success. Greenpoint has beautiful historic row houses, parks and a large shopping area along Manhattan Avenue. It is like shopping in a small town, with small, unique shops and, neighborhood restaurants. Mc Carren Park has been a place for the neighborhood children to play for more than 100 years and the pool there is a very welcome place in the summer. It is the part of Brooklyn closest to Queens and the BQE runs right overhead, making it easy to get to any part of the city. It is a neighborhood of quiet tree lined streets where you can get a one bedroom condo starting at $350,000, a two-bedroom condo starting at $550,000.

Great choices. I was born and raised in Brooklyn and agree that these neighborhoods are all great. I was raised in Kensington which is also nice.
