Best NFL Week 1 Games to Watch

Wordsleuth
Every week in the NFL there are games worth watching, while some just aren't really worth the time. Some games have huge playoff implications, while others mean next to nothing. This is a list of NFL games to watch for Week 1 unless of course you play fantasy football, then they are all worth watching.

Saints at Colts (Thursday, 9/6, 8:30 pm)

I would name this as a game to watch just because it is the first regular season game of the 2007 NFL season. Add to that the fact that two of the most explosive offenses with some of the most electrifying players under a dome and you will have some fireworks. This game is a potential Super Bowl preview.

Matchup of the game: Colts Offense vs. Saints Offense

Patriots at Jets (Sunday, 9/9, 1:00 pm)

The Patriots will start their season on the road versus their arch-rival New York Jets. Eric "Mangenius" will try to build on last season's success and the Patriots will look to start off on the right foot for winning the AFC East once again. Mangini against his former mentor Bill Belicheck always gets extra media attention.

Matchup of the game: New Patriots receivers vs. Jets defensive backs

Bears at Chargers (Sunday, 9/9, 4:15 pm)

The Bears and Chargers will play in a match up of what many thought would be last year's Super Bowl and many are once again picking both of these teams to be in the Super Bowl. The Bears have a bone to pick with Tomlinson after his newest Nike commercial shows him carving up the Bears defense and they will show they have something to prove.

Matchup of the game: LaDanian Tomlinson vs. Bears defense

Giants at Cowboys (Sunday, 9/9, 8:15 pm)

The Giants will go to Dallas in an early key matchup for the NFC East. The NFC East should be a tight division once again this season and this early matchup could later go on to decide who makes it to the playoffs and who doesn't. This is a great division rivalry game.

Matchup of the game: Young quarterbacks; Tony Romo vs. Eli Manning

Ravens at Bengals (Monday, 9/10, 7:00 pm)

The Ravens will travel to Cincinnati in another of the great divisional matches this week. The Ravens and the Bengals are picked as the top two teams in the AFC North by many pundits and this should be a hard fought game between a great offense, the Bengals, and a great defense, the Ravens.

Matchup of the game: Ravens defense vs. Bengals offense

Cardinals at 49ers (Monday, 9/10, 10:15 pm)

This game might be too late for some on the East Coast but the Cardinals and second-year starter Matt Leinart will travel to San Francisco. Leinart has all the weapons and a new coach this season and the yearly sense of optimism in the desert is there once again. The niners have some hope of their own behind a young core that includes quarterback Alex Smith, running back Frank Gore, tight end Vernon Davis and linebacker Patrick Willis. This will be a showcase of some great young talent.
