Knoxville, TN is a booming town of nearly 200,000 residents nestled between the Cumberland and Smokey mountains. If you are planning a trip to this great city, there are several places to go and enjoy the nightlife that Knoxville has to offer.

Cumberland Ave. Commonly called "the strip" by locals, this area is located just off the borders of the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. There are a variety of restaurants and bars to choose from. Cumberland Ave. is particularly popular after UT football games.

Barley's Taproom. A long-time favorite of locals, this pizzeria is located in The Old City at 200 East Jackson Ave. Barley's offers live music, over 40 microbrews and international beers, and some of the biggest, best pizza slices in Knoxville. Barley's is open Monday-Saturday 11:30 A.M. to 2:30 A.M and Sunday noon to midnight.

Cotteneyed Joe. Located at 11220 Outlet Rd, near Lovell Rd, Cotteneyed Joe is the place to go if you are a country music fan. Drinks are plentiful and, if you arrive early, you can take a dance class that will have you ready to dance the night away once the party gets started. Cotteneyed Joe is open daily from 6:00 P.M. to 2:00 A.M.. Admission varies.

Michaels Restaurant & Bar. This hot spot has been serving the Knoxville area since 1981. It is located at 7049 Kingston Pike. Michaels offers a full menu until close each night along with activities and prizes. On Monday you could will $200 in their Karaoke, Pool and Darts Tournaments. Ladies have the chance to win $1000 every Thursday during Ladies' night. Happy hour is 4:00 P.M to 9:00 P.M. seven days a week and dancing last until closing time which is 2:30 A.M every day. There is a cover charge for Thursday thru Saturday only. There is also a party room that can serve up to 100 people if needed.

Baker Peter's Jazz. Located in a historical mansion at 9000 Kingston Pike, Baker Peter's jazz club offers a great dinner that can include steak and lobster and even better live jazz. The restaurant is open Monday thru Thursday 5:00 P.M. to 10:00 P.M. and Friday and Saturday 5:00 P.M. to 10:30 P.M. The jazz club is open Monday thru Saturday 4:30 P.M to 2:00 A.M. Admission is $5 a person.

The Comedy Zone. If you're looking for a place with a lot of laughs, The Comedy Zone may be the perfect place for you. Located at 9246 Parkwest Blvd., The Comedy Zone provides live comedic entertainment, refreshments, and a full service bar. It is open Wednesday thru Saturday and you must call for reservations. Wednesday and Thursday's shows are at 8:00 P.M. and cost $8. Friday's shows are at 8:00 P.M. and 10:15 P.M. and cost $10. Saturday's shows are also at 8:00 P.M and 10:15 P.M., but will cost you $12.50. The price increase is due to the level of professional that is offered each night. You must be over the age of 18 to attend.

Sports. If you enjoy a good sporting event, Knoxville has a lot to offer. The University of Tennessee football games are a must see during the fall. UT also has two wonderful basketball teams. Prices and dates for these events vary, so check out the local paper to see what's going on. Knoxville also has a minor league hockey team called the Ice Bears. The Ice Bears play at the Knoxville Coliseum and ticket prices range from $6 to $27.
