Holiday Gifts for Pokemon Fans

Rebecca Rosenburg
Pokemon fans of all ages will be asking for Nintendo DS Pokemon games this holiday season. With Hanukkah quickly approaching and Christmas not far behind, you'll want to find the best Nintendo DS Pokemon games soon. Following is a list of the newest and most popular Nintendo DS Pokemon games. I have included a brief review of each game along with the rating.

Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Sky: This is another installment of the Pokemon Mystery Dungeon series of Nintendo DS games. It is rated E for Everyone. The game was released October 12, 2009. This game offers more Pokemon than previous installments in the series and allows special missions using Nintendo DS WiFi. The game can be purchased for $29.99.

Pokemon Platinum: This is also a new release this year. It was released March 22, 2009. It is rated E for Everyone. Pokemon Platinum features never-before-seen forms of powerful Pokemon as well as post battle videos. New in this game is the Nintendo DS WiFi Plaza. The Battle Frontier also offers hours of playtime after one has completed the main quest. This game can be purchased for $31.49 online, the list price is $34.99.

Pokemon SoulSilver Version: This game is has not yet been released in the U.S. and is available for pre-order. This game will not be available in time for Hanukkah and possibly not in time for Christmas, but a gift note letting your Pokemon fan know it has been ordered for him will make him very happy- he'll be one of the first of his friends to own this game! The list price for this game is $34.99.

Pokemon Dash: This is an older Pokemon game released in 2006. It is simpler than recent Pokemon games but since the game-play is different your tween will probably find it engaging. It is rated E for Everyone. This is a great game to purchase for Hanukkah or Christmas if you are on a budget- you can find it from $9.99 to $18.00.

Bakugan Battle Brawlers: This is not a Pokemon game but is very similar. There is a television show featuring these anime characters and Pokemon fans are sure to love them! This game is rated Everyone 10+. This game seems to be like a live-action card game which is similar to Pokemon. You can purchase this game for $29.99.
