Best Nintendo Games of All Time

Steve
In the world of video games, very few companies have been as successful as the video game juggernaut we call Nintendo. They've produced brilliant consoles, and brilliant video games in the 2 decades they've been releasing them. They have a lot of them, but which Nintendo games were the very best?

10. Banjo-Kazooie(N64) - May 31, 1998

I don't understand why anyone could not like this game. Yes, it was very reminiscent in many ways to Super Mario 64, but this game still played to it's own tune. A great tune I may add. I loved the craziness and outrageousness of this game. It's graphics and sound were in my opinion, the best for the N64. Even surpassing the great Super Mario 64, which you would expect, since the game was released two years later. It was, and still is, an amazing platformer. Some even consider it better then Super Mario 64. But for me, it's spot is well deserved, as the 10th best Nintendo game of all time.

9.Metroid Prime(GC) - November 15, 2002

Metroid Prime, the action-adventure/ first person shooter hybrid is yet another example how Nintendo took a great 2-D game and made it 3-D without taking the original feel that the original games had. Metroid Prime is just beautiful, I would cite it as one of the most beautifully done games of all time. It was perfect in so many ways, including its great, but unorthodox gameplay, and that it's multiple endings. Truly one of the great games for the Gamecube and Nintendo.

8. Mario Kart Series(NES,SNES,DS,GBA,GC) - 1992-2005

Basically every single one of these games have been just as great as the other, so I can't just choose one. The Mario Kart series, isn't just your traditional racer. In fact, it's nothing like to your traditional racer, only in that, you know, race. It's so much fun, as with many Nintendo games, with beautifully done levels, and features a game that you need to develop lots of skill to master, but it'll be fun for anybody who decides to pick up the game. Basically anyone of them.

7. Perfect Dark(N64) - May 22, 2002

The "spiritual" sequel to the great shooter, Goldeneye 007. Perfect Dark is one of the more underrated games in Nintendo's history. It was an amazing shooter, that came out towards the end of the N64's life. It expanded on a lot of the ideas and styles that Goldenye had and made some of them even better. It's cooperative mode is one of the best that a first person shooter has produced. Perfect Dark features a huge amount of weapons and variations of them, more then even many of the first person shooters out there right now. Though I don't believe this game to be as good as Goldeneye, it's definitely a classic and one of the greatest Nintendo games ever.

6. Super Smash Bros. Melee(GC) - December 3, 2001

It isn't your traditional fighting game, but it gives you more fun then any of them out there. Super Smash Bros. Melee came out onto the scene in 2001 for the Gamecube and absolutely amazed us. It was a huge improvement over it predecessor, and is easily one of the most fun and addicting games of all time. It's been 5 years since it was released and people are still playing it religiously. It was deep in that it featured 25 characters, and featured over 250 trophies to collect. It's gameplay is so simple yet extremely fun at the same time. They really hit the mark in that the game is easy to pick up and play, but difficult to master. It's one of the best games of it's genre.

5. Super Mario Bros. 3(NES) - February 12, 1990

There's not a a lot I can say about this game, it was incredible, this really is the game, that got me the most into the Mario Franchise. It's the best game for the NES, period.

4. Zelda: Twilight Princess(Wii,GC) - November17, 2006

Definitely one of the best video games of all time. I loved this game's story, using the "wii-mote" for gameplay. It is an incredible game. Though I do wish Nintendo would put some voice acting in this series, I still loved it. It wasn't as groundbreaking as some of the other games in the series or in the Nintendo Franchise as a whole, but it compounded on what made the other games great to make an even better game There's much debate on where this game is as good as Ocarina of Time, and I say no. Just because of how it only compounded on what made other games in the series great, and didn't bring enough new to the table. It didn't change the way games are played and how people looked at the genre Ocarina of Time did. Still, either way , this is an amazing game, and deserves all the praise it gets.
3. Goldenye 007(N64) - August 23, 1997

A landmark first-person shooter, actually developed by Rare, just as Banjo-Kazooie, and Perfect Dark. Goldeneye is one of the best first person shooters ever. Goldeneye's deathmatch mode was unrivaled at the time, and I seriously would rather play this shooter with my buddies, more then almost any of the other shooters out there now. It was just so fun to use Oddjob who would be almost impossible to shoot sometimes. It got to the point where everyone wanted to ban the use of him in deathmatch. Sure it had the sluggish frame rate at times, but other then that, this game was pure genius. And not only in the multiplayer, but this game excelled in the single player mode as well. It based it off the movie, and did it well. Very well actually.

2. Super Mario 64(N64) - Release Date: USA September 29, 1996

This is the game that every platformer aspires to be, in terms of success and how great the game was. It just might be the best launch title to date. It was a breakthrough game in that it perfectly translated a 2d game into 3d. It still felt like I was that Mario from the 2d games on the SNES, and the NES. But it brought a slew new things to it as well, which is why it was so great. Such as the controllable camera, and the non-linear gameplay. I go through a nostalgic depression everytime I think about how great this game was. I remember having to go around the castle courtyard 100 times because I thought I was going to unlock Luigi. This is definitely a landmark game for the Mario franchise, and Nintendo. It's what I would consider the best game in the Mario franchise, and the 2nd best Nintendo game of all time.

1. The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time(N64) - Release Date: USA November 23, 1998

Probably not a big surprise. This game is just flawless. This was another example of how Nintendo perfectly translated a much loved 2-d game, into 3-d. Time Travel anyone? How cool is that. It's story was great, with Ganondorf being one of the best video game villains ever, and Link being one of the best heroes ever. Sure, he's a mute, but he doesn't have to say anything to get his point across, and kick some ass! It's outstanding story and tons of sidequests kept us into this game for hours and hours. And we can't forget how this game broke through in the controls department, they were unflawed, rivaling most of the games, even today. This game is not only the greatest Nintendo game, but the greatest game of all time.

Very excited that OoT was #1...couldn't have said it better myself...giving you a 5...however, I probably would have kicked banjo and perfect dark and put in super mario RPG and maybe even excitebike.
