Best Online Sites for Preschool Printables

Amy Fillion
When my son was just over 2.5 year old, I began researching Web sites for preschool printables. Now, over a year later, I have spent a great deal of time on various sites and have presented many printables to my son for us to work on together. Here is a list of my favorite Web sites for preschool printables.

This has got to be one of my absolute favorite Web sites for preschool printables. They have such an array of choices from printables that work on letters, numbers, and shapes, to printables for the simple purpose of coloring. Worthy of your time would be the section of color-themed paper crafts. There are a list of printables, among them, one of our favorites. Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What do You Hear? is a great story by Eric Carle. My son is quite a visual learner at this time and loves the game we have created with these printables. I laminated these animals and we recite the story as he guesses which animal card I'm going to present to him next - a great way of teaching colors to younger children of preschool age. There are many printable craft templates on this website. Love it!

Kaboose is another great site for preschool printables. Noteworthy are the printables for letters. Often times, I'll find that many printables are a bit too "busy" for my liking. The less a worksheet has on it, the better. Your preschooler is less likely to become overwhelmed and can focus on the task at hand. Kaboose has a nice section of letter printables. I also like the animal printables, under which you will find some great animal mazes. At 3.5 years old, my son has been greatly interested in mazes and these are just wonderful. Stimulating, yet not entirely too difficult.

At Kidzone, you can choose printables by topic or by grade. They have an entire preschool section that you can browse through. I find myself coming to Kidzone when I'm looking for printables on pre-printing skills (tracing lines, curves and zig zags from left to right - appropriate for my 3.5 year old son).

If you're simply looking for coloring pages, then this is the Web site to click on. There are a great variety of topics to choose from (transportation, holidays, religious, environment, sports, etc.). I'll print these out for my son to color, but I also tend to use this site to print out pages that I then color in myself and laminate to make games, flashcards, and other fun activities.

Remember this Web site when your preschooler ages a bit. Although many of the activities are a bit too difficult just now for my 3.5-year-old son (coloring pages aside), there are some great printables here that utilize characters that so many children adore (dinosaurs, fairy creatures, sports, animals, and various holidays to name a few).

There are so many Web sites out there that promise to cater to a preschoolers interest. The above are definitely my favorite, and they're Web sites that I visit frequently. They've got just what we need.
