My New Orleans: The Cookbook(ISBN-10: 0740784137)
John Besh, the author, grew up in New Orleans and his passion for it really shows in his book. You can find lots of tasty recipes here like crabmeat etouffee, tomato cheese salad, purple plum glaze, blackberry pie and many more. As a novice cook I appreciate how easy the recipes are and the fact that the ingredients are easy to find. You will be pleased to find more than just recipes here. John also shares stories, jokes and almost everything about New Orleans. The photos and pictures are fun to look at too.
The Commander's Palace New Orleans Cookbook(ISBN-10: 0517550490)
The Commander's Palace is a hundred year old restaurants from New Orleans. More than a dining spot this place is where people make memories; tasty memories to be more precise. This recipe book contains more than 175 exotic recipes. The recipes are slight modifications and adaptations of classic cuisines. These modifications are made because, you gotta admit, the original ones were not exactly healthy. Some of the recipes you should try are the garlic bread (basic but yummy), lump crabmeat, grilled salmon and smoked spare ribs barbecue. This book also has plenty of dessert recipes. You just have to try them all.
Arnaud's Restaurant Cookbook: New Orleans Legendary Creole Cuisine(ISBN-10: 1589803094)
If somebody tells you that this is a photo book he's kind of right. The photos in this book are live and attractive. However I can assure you that this is in fact a recipe book; an excellent one to be more precise. This book is a good choice for anyone looking for easy recipes to try at home. Even though the recipes were originally restaurant recipes they have been properly adapted (serving size, ingredients, cooking process, etc) for your kitchen.
Chef Paul Prudhomme's Louisiana Kitchen (ISBN-10: 0688028470)
This recipe book is another great example of a restaurant recipe book where the recipes are properly adapted and tested for easy cooking at home. The directions are truly easy to follow even by the amateur chefs. Paul Prudhomme has filled this book with recipes from his own restaurant in New Orleans; The K-Paul's Louisiana Kitchen. Here you can find the "upgraded" recipes for traditional cuisines such as sweet potato pecan pie, crawfish etouffee, turtle soup, shrimp creole, jambalayas, gumbos and many more. All of them are seriously good.
