International House of Pancakes (I.H.O.P)
Okay, these can be found just about anywhere. But it is undeniable that their consistency in quality and production-line-like service is part of the charm that keeps people coming back. The whole grain pancakes with walnut syrup is something to remember later in the day long after breakfast. Although I.H.O.P. is lacking the character of local breakfast shops, if nothing else is within reach, you might as well drop in for some grub.
In-A-Pickle
Located at the intersection of Moody Street and Route 20 in Waltham, In-A-Pickle is a convenient place to meet up for locals and college students. There always seems to be a long line, sometimes going out the door, but the quick, but never rushed services processes the high level of demand quickly. The weekly specials are always interesting and add a bit of a gourmet touch to the menu. The City Hall Cakes which are available every day consist of banana pancakes with warm toasted walnuts on top. The City Hall Cakes along are enough reason to travel to In-A-Pickle for breakfast even if you don't live in Waltham.
Deluxe Town Diner
Watertown offers a good old fashioned diner experience in Deluxe Town Diner. This place is known by people in surrounding towns as one of, if not the best breakfast stops in Massachusetts. Located on Mount Auburn Street, this place gets a lot of traffic and definitely can get busy on the weekend. The menus look like something out of the movie Grease. Check out some of the gourmet styled pancakes from the griddle menu such as Sour Cream Flap Jacks or Blue Corn Meal Pancakes. Speaking of grease, the owner of Deluxe Town Diner uses recycled grease from the restaurant to heat the diner with a converted boiler and generator. Who would have thought green pancakes taste better?
Trident Books Cafe
Trident has breakfast all day which my girlfriend and I are both huge fans of. When she was in college at Emmanuel, her Fenway Card meal program allowed us to eat at Trident whenever we wanted. So, their pancakes and french toast have been savored at all hours. Their selection of books along with an impressive and always delicious menu makes Trident a very popular spot for Newbury Street locals and students. Grabbing some breakfast and cramming for a final on their free Wi-Fi is seems like a good way to spend a morning or afternoon to me.
Breakfast is a great time to eat up and studies are saying more that a heaping, carb filled plate at the beginning of the day is a healthy way to fight hunger later on. If you've got a craving for some good pancakes and so much more, Boston is a great place to have your plate piled high.

Post a CommentVery good article. Your writing is quite readable. Walnut syrup at IHOP ? That sounds good. I worked at IHOP for three years when I was in my teens and I loved it.
Sound great I have to visit one day~!
Mmm...pancakes!
As a pancake lover, I'd definitely check out these spots :)
