Best Parks to Take Your Dog in Salem, Ohio

Summertime is recreation time. Family and friends gather at parks filled with nature, the birds, and squirrels go whisking by. There is one family friend that probably enjoys it better than you, your dog. Dogs love to jump and play, and pretend to chase small animals across the grass, in hopes to catch them and play. Well, if you are looking for a great place to take your family and your dog, here are a few places you can visit in Salem, Ohio, where everyone can enjoy themselves.

* Centennial Park - 35 Acres

Centennial Park is surrounded by large trees with plenty of shade. In the middle of the park is where the pool, tennis court, and parking lot sits. But on the outside is hills, spacious grass, plenty of room to roam around, and lots of trees climbing animals. This park has so much breeze to keep your dog cool, that your dog can run around for hours and not feel hot. Pack a lunch for you and your four-legged friend, and sit back and watch the visitors pass you by. This is my number one choice for a dog park. Take your dog for a walk, or a jog on the sidewalk that encirlces the park. Then sit back on one of the many pavilion benches to catch a breath. This a a definite ideal place to visit with your dog, and of course take your pooper scoopers; there are plenty of visitors that come around.

* Memorial Park - 37 Acres

Memorial Park is not as centralized. The playground and duck pond are in one area, then you have a few baseball fields spread out across the park. Shade is more around the duck pond and playground area, but on the other side there is some space for your dog to roam around. Take a frisbee and toss it around, or throw around your tennis ball in this park. When there is no one out on the fields, take your dog for a round of ball, your the hitter and let your dog be the outfielder. Take a walk down by the sand volleyball area, get some water at the fountains, and sit back on the grass. This park doesn't seem to be as busy, and you have a little more freedom, except around baseball season.

* Kelley Park - 5 Acres

Kelley Park is a smaller park, but more private. A great place for your dog to roam free, without any worries about who or what is there. Sit on the hillside under the trees, or throw around a frisbee or tennis ball in this huge baseball field. This park is for relaxation. Not many people, an open field, and wide open space to run around with your best friend. Dog's love to come here, because they don't feel stressed over any visitors. I sometimes take my children here to fly kites on the hillside, and the dogs are so tame, they sit back and watch.
