Best Photo Editing Software on the Internet!

Eliot Matthews
There are hundreds, maybe even thousands, of photo editing programs out there and deciding which one to use can be a hassle. However I have personal experience with several of the more advanced and expensive ones and also have experience with even more of the free ones. From my personal experience, there are only three true photo editing programs I would consider to be among the top.

Listed in no particular order.

Free Programs:

1. "Gimp" - Hands down one of best, if not the best free photo editing program for download. Yes it is a download and it is a pretty lengthy download, however it is again free and almost exactly like Microsoft Office's "Photoshop". It is simpler to use than Photoshop and is very user friendly when it comes to quickly editing photos. Again this is a free program and I would highly recommend it if you do not want to spend any money on a photo editing program. Out of the free programs, this is the best one. 2. "Picasa" - Picasa is a widely known photo editing program and is very user friendly as well. With my experience between the two, "Gimp" still wins without a doubt. However, this editing program is also free and is a much smaller download than Gimp is. Since it is a free program, it's not perfect. But given the free factor, it is a great program. It's very simple to use, quite simpler than "Gimp" is but does not have the same features as "Gimp". I have used this program for many photos and the biggest problem I had with it was that it was very cluttered when it came to finding tools on the program. Granted I haven't used this program in particular in quite some time, it does prove some difficulty if you're looking to do heavy editing or any real in-depth changes to a photo. This is definitely my second pick when it comes to free photo editing software, and if you're looking for a real easy editing program that requires no real know-how then this is the one you're looking for.

Paid Programs:

"Photoshop" - I have used a wide assortment of photo editing programs and I've used many, many paid programs. My ultimate decision and as should yours is to stick with the free editing programs unless you plan to do serious editing to photos. There are loads of features in "Photoshop" that you just can't get anywhere else. But! It's not cheap. You can get "Photoshop" when you buy the whole Microsoft Office package in which you get all the other terrific programs along with it. However using "Photoshop" requires a lot of know-how in order to really get anywhere. In terms of user friendly, it is not towards the average person editing photos, me included. My recommendation is to go with the free software I have listed above if you aren't doing anything major.
