Best Places to Buy Christmas Gifts Online for Under $25: Holiday Shopping 2010

Kay Whittenhauer
Holiday shopping just got easier! Find great Christmas gifts for under $25 at my favorite on-line retailers:

HSN. HSN.com has a "Gift Store" tab on their home page. (It's in blue, above the big picture.) Put your mouse on the "Gift Store" tab, and choose "Gifts under $25" in the first column. This will bring you to a very large of inexpensive Christmas gift ideas. QVC and HSN are neck-and-neck as far as my favorite on-line retailers, but I have to say that HSN is ahead on the gifts for under $25 category.

Food gifts, makeup, children's toys, ornaments, kid's crafts, linens, necklaces, and earrings can be found on HSN for under $25. But that's not all, there are literally hundreds of Christmas gift ideas for under $25 on HSN.

You can't go wrong with the huge selection of top-quality products on HSN.com! Their return policy is extremely liberal and hassle-free. Christmas gifts can be returned until January 31. (But who's going to return their Christmas gifts? Not anyone you buy for!)

QVC. QVC.com is great because they have a Christmas tab right on their home page. (Look at the red bar right under the QVC banner- Christmas is the last one on the right.) When you hold your mouse over the word Christmas, a bunch of options pop up. Choose "Gifts under $25" and click on it... and let the shopping begin!

Some ideas for Christmas gifts under $25 at QVC are flame-less candles (which I've bought and are so much better than the ones from the drug store), shower gel, throw pillows, and necklaces.

The quality at QVC is always superb. Another thing I like about QVC is their return policy. It's pretty much no questions asked and you can return Christmas items until January 31.

Overstock.com. Even though Overstock.com is a discount on-line retailer, it takes a little bit of finesse to find the best deals. When you go to Overstock.com's home page, click on the department(s) that interest you. Then scroll down to the price section and click on the "under $20" option. The bad news is some categories, like furniture, don't have an "under $20" option. The good news is most categories do!

Look for "under $20" Christmas gifts in jewelery, toys, office, gifts and flowers, crafts and sewing, pets, electronics, clothing, and sports. That should cover your whole list! And there aren't just a few items in each of these under $20 categories- many of them have literally thousands of choices. Just make sure you're comfortable with how to navigate the overstock.com site. (If you have to, keep this article in one tab while you search in another, and if you get lost over there, come back here.)

REI. For those not familiar with REI, their website states, "At REI, we inspire, educate and outfit for a lifetime of outdoor adventure and stewardship." So if you know someone who loves the outdoors, this is a perfect place to do some holiday shopping!

Go to the REI site and click on the REI-OUTLET tab for deals. For the real deals, scroll down to the "Under $20" icon and click on that. REI has all kinds of gift ideas under $20: Swiss army knife, hats, gloves, flashlight, shirts, socks, watches, lunch set, women's clogs, dog bed, tote bag, water bottles, mugs, men's lounge pants, and bicycle accessories.

WishGenies matches the person you're shopping for up to people with similar interests. We then ask those people for recommendations. Think of it as a "It takes one to know one" approach to gift recommendations. Requires a facebook account.

Sometimes the shipping costs more than the actual gift!
