One company that seems to shine above the rest in terms of eco-friendly running gear is Atayne. They create athletic clothing by taking the activated carbon from coconuts, crabshells and recycled plastic bottles, combining them together to generate a recycled polyester material for clothing which not only controls odor, moisture, and temperature, but also affords some UV protection to the wearer. They have limited designs and supplies at the current time, but prices are very reasonable, starting at $24 for a recycled cotton T-shirt.
Perhaps not quite as eco-friendly, but certainly just as motivated to be so, there is thriv. They also make ecofriendly running gear, which is moisture wicking, antimicrobial, and breathable to regulate temperature, but theirs is made from a blend of bamboo, organic cotton, and a man-made material called Elastane. Unfortunately, they do not sell their clothing online as of yet, and at the present time their stores are primarily located in California, Pennsylvania, and Florida, plus a few other scattered locations in other states. According to their website, thriv's brand of clothing beat the leading brand of polyester clothing in all key categories, during an independent test conducted by SGS Labs.
For ecofriendly running gear at discount prices, check out FuddleDuds, which is an online outlet mall of sorts, working directly with the manufacturers to get lower wholesale prices. They then pass these savings on to their customers. Ecomall provides a list of all the places to buy ecofriendly running gear, yoga wear, and more, from bamboo to organic cotton and hemp. With so many listed eco-friendly and fair trade stores, there is sure to be an athletic gear store right for nearly everyone.
If you need custom designed ecofriendly running gear with logos printed or embroidered on it, look no further than Oliveri & Company. They offer a large selection of garments for printing and embroidery which are made 100% from either recycled or organic materials.
