Best Places to Buy a Fully Prepared Christmas Dinner

Lori Wheat
Amid all the gift wrapping, gift opening, and other fun holiday activities, who has time to cook a Christmas dinner at home? Many places offer fully prepared holiday dinners. Simply preorder the dinner that is appropriate for the number of people you will be feeding, and pick up the prepared dinner for the day you will be hosting dinner.

Or, for an even simpler option, order your holiday dinner over the internet, and have the dinner sent to your home - no need to drive anywhere during the busy holiday season! All you will need to do in this case is warm up the food according to the instructions enclosed with the food. You will have the wonderful scents of food baking in your home with no food preparation time.

Many restaurants and grocery stores offer fully prepared holiday dinners to go. The following are examples of great places to purchase a holiday dinner to go. Many of these businesses are widely available across the United States.

Hickory Farms

Tired of eating turkey and ham because you had your fill during Thanksgiving? Hickory Farms offers many diverse options, such as the Seared Norwegian Salmon Dinner. The Seared Norwegian Salmon Dinner features ocean-fresh salmon, serves four, and costs $59.99.

It includes four servings of each of the following: 5 oz boneless, skinless Norwegian Salmon filets; 2 ounce portions of tangy Lemon Herb Sauce; 3 ounce portions of Frenched Green Beans; and 3 ounce portions of Rice Pilaf. This meal is frozen and fully cooked. All you have to do is follow the enclosed preparation instructions to heat and serve.

Whole Foods

Live near a Whole Foods store? You can pick up a healthier version of Christmas dinner. For a unique holiday dinner, Whole Foods offers Duck A L'Orange with wild rice pilaf, green beans amandine, and acorn squash for $79.99 (serves 4) or $129.99 (serves 6 to 8).

Whole Foods also offers a vegan holiday dinner with no animal-derived ingredients for $59.99 (serves 4) or $15.99 (serves 1). This would be a wonderfully welcoming way to serve your newly vegetarian or vegan relative.

Safeway and Albertson's

Safeway and Albertson's grocery stores are prevalent across the US. Both typically offer inexpensive holiday dinners to go. For a holiday dinner that serves six to eight people, prices begin at about $34.99.

Sick of turkey and ham from all you ate at Thanksgiving? At Albertson's, you can get a pre-made prime rib dinner. At $65, the prime rib dinner contains a 4 to 5 pound roast, 2 ½ pound green bean casserole, 2 ½ pounds of scalloped potatoes, a pumpkin or apple pie, and a dozen rolls.
